NWTAC AWARD WINNER 2025

EVELYN KRUTKO MIGHTY WARRIOR AWARD

Congratulations to Eleanor Young, recipient of the 2025 Evelyn Krutko Mighty Warrior Award.

Eleanor has spent decades serving communities across the NWT with strength, resilience, and heart. From her early days in regional land use planning in the Beaufort Delta, to her leadership as SAO in Ulukhaktok, and her more recent roles as Deputy Minister and President & CEO of Housing NWT, Eleanor’s work has consistently centered the needs of people and communities.

A tireless champion for community development, Eleanor brought deep knowledge and commitment to every role she held—always mindful of how her decisions would impact the lives of Northerners.

As she steps into retirement, we honour a remarkable career marked by determination, integrity, and a powerful legacy of service. Thank you, Eleanor, for everything you’ve done for the NWT and the NWTAC.

NWTAC AWARD WINNER 2025

PRESIDENT'S AWARD

Congratulations to Karen Kuronen, recipient of the 2025 NWTAC President’s Award.

This special honour is awarded by the NWTAC President and Board of Directors to someone who has gone above and beyond—and Karen truly has.

Karen joined the NWTAC on May 5, 2015, and for the past decade, she had been the driving force behind the Northern Communities Insurance Program. Her knowledge, dedication, and famously sharp sense of humour made her a cornerstone of the organization.

Whether answering a tough question, delivering a delightfully unpredictable annual report, or brightening the office with laughter, Karen brought warmth and professionalism to everything she did. Her presence will be deeply missed—but her impact will be felt for years to come.

Congratulations on your retirement, Karen, and thank you for ten years of outstanding service.
