NORTHERN INFRASTRUCTURE STANDARDS
Newly added to the Standards heading in the NWTAC Climate Change Toolkit is Risk-based Approach for Community Planning in Northern Regions ꟷ Requirements and Guidance, which specifies the minimum requirements to produce land development suitability (LDS) maps with particular consideration given to climate change within a risk management framework.

OFFICE OF CLIENT EXPERIENCE | |
PATIENT ADVOCATES
The Office of Client Experience (OCE), Intake Co-ordinator has sent communications material to all 33 communities for display in Health Centres, Hospitals, Friendship Centres, and other sites where people tend to gather.
The OCE information package includes the following :
The NTHSSA assures that the OCE link is always prominently featured on their public website, making it easy for online residents to find program information. They also actively promote the OCE through various channels, including traditional media (radio and TV) and digital platforms, aiming for widespread awareness. Their on-the-ground efforts involve staff visits to businesses and GNWT offices, distributing posters, pamphlets, and business cards. Additionally, we regularly give virtual and in-person presentations to Regional Wellness Councils, the Leadership Council, and other interested organizations.
The Cultural Safety Design Collaborative has been actively engaging with the community to understand how clients experience travel for care to Stanton Territorial Hospital. These efforts have successfully increased awareness of the team and its services. During these engagements, the OCE team has visited:

DOCUMENTARY AND CALLS TO ACTION
Filmed on locations across Canada including Indigenous communities, research sites and universities, Signal Fire is free-to-watch 30-minute documentary that features stories from the authors and their colleagues — Indigenous and non-Indigenous — and lights the way for researchers and communities looking to ignite change.
The Signal Fire website provides more information about the 10 Calls to Action to Natural Scientists, the film, and resources to help individuals rethink how natural science is conducted.

Join the GMF upcoming webinar on March 28, 2024 at 11 am MT, Community stories: The real impact of energy efficiency financing, as they explore concrete examples from municipalities that have successfully financed projects through the Green Municipal Fund’s Community Efficiency Financing (CEF) initiative. Speakers from the Clean Foundation, the Town of Bridgewater, the Association of Alberta Municipalities and the City of Calgary will share results from their funded programs.

WASTE REDUCTION AND RECYCLING | |
WASTE REDUCTION AND RECYCLING INITIATIVE
Do you have an idea to help your community reduce, reuse and recycle waste but need some financial support? ECC is now accepting applications for the Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiative.
This program provides up to $50,000 to complete projects that reduce waste generation, reuse materials and products, recycle materials (that are not already collected through an NWT recycling program), or repurpose waste for a useful benefit.
More details, including the Funding Guidelines, Application Form, and Project Plan & Budget Templates, can be found on ECC’s website at www.ecc.gov.nt.ca/WRRI.
