Outdoor Church Every Sunday at 2:00 pm

People of God at St. Benedict's, I am still glowing after the chance to worship God together with some of you on Sunday afternoon! What a glorious way to begin our ministry together. Special thanks to Monty, Valerie, Saralee, Daniel, Ann, Kent, Mitch, and all who pitched in to make it possible.
While we will continue with our facebook stream on Sunday mornings, we will also celebrate Holy Eucharist together in person (outdoors, masked and distanced) every Sunday at 2:00 pm in the upper lot unless it's raining or snowing. If the weather is bad, we'll send an email cancelling by 11:00 am that day. Please consider adding this to the rhythm of your week. As per diocesan guidelines, you must register ahead of time, and we can only have 50 folks per service, but if demand is high enough, we can add a second service in the weeks to come. The service is just under an hour, and there's time to visit with one another in a safe way. Register below for this Sunday.
Please wear a mask, dress for the weather, and bring a chair and a Book of Common Prayer if you have one. Also: Valerie will be leading us in music some weeks; if you are a musician of any variety, we'd love to have you take a week to offer some simple music for our outdoor worship. Please be in touch with Valerie or me (Mother Jenna).
I hope for the chance to worship together in the weeks to come! Also keep an eye out for some chances to meet and connect soon, both on Zoom and in person.
Peace, Mo. Jenna+

Sundays 9:30 a.m.
For Adult Formation this Sunday, we'll continue the conversation with Mother Jenna. Come with questions to ask her; she's got a question for you too!
Come ready to tell us about a favorite story, image, or text from scripture or tradition that connects to your life in Christ at St. Benedict's: maybe that reminds you of a favorite moment from worshiping or fellowship together, or serving in ministry here.
Links to join will be sent in Saturday's email.

The 3.5-ton, 20-foot-long bronze sculpture Angels Unawares, twin to the statue in St. Peter’s Square, has arrived in Atlanta. It will be displayed at Holy Spirit Preparatory School from January 7 through February 3 as part of a nationwide tour. The sculpture is a second casting of a piece commissioned by Pope Francis and created by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz, who has received broad attention for his Homeless Jesus sculpture. This sculpture embodies the Church’s teachings on immigration, particularly the importance of welcoming the stranger and celebrating the many contributions of migrants and refugees to our society. The public is invited to view the sculpture from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Archbishop Gregory John Hartmayer will preside over a blessing ceremony on Tuesday, January 12, at 1:30 p.m. Learn more here.

We are grateful that we have received $372,200 with 83 pledges. Thank you for your generous commitment to St. Benedict's for 2021.
Our goal is for all members of the St. Benedict’s family to make a financial pledge to the church in the upcoming year so that we respond in love and continue to carry out the work and ministries of our church including worship, music, Adult and Children’s Formation, and our outreach into the community.
We receive pledges of all amounts, from a few hundred to thousands of dollars per year – whatever works best for the giver. We simply want everyone to participate and support the church. Would you please prayerfully consider pledging, whether you have pledged before or not, and let us know what you decide as soon as you can? If you want to have a conversation about stewardship feel free to call Ann Canipe at 678- 641-0045 or 770-434-7490. We hope to wrap-up the Imagine St. Benedict’s Stewardship Campaign before December 31.
Please join the members of the Vestry and the Nominating Committee who have already made their commitments for 2021. We have so much to look forward to as we begin working with our new rector, The Rev. Jenna Strizak, to help St. Benedict’s live into our dreams. We as members and good stewards will be accountable for the success of St. B’s along with Jenna. We can build and grow St. Benedict’s together if we will share our time, our talents, and our treasures.
You can pledge online below or by returning the pledge card to the church.

Although we have not been gathering in the church, we continue to rely on your generous giving to support our wonderful staff, our ministries, and to maintain a solid foundation.
The current financial situation at St. Benedict's is not trending well. Year to date we have received $328,251 on a budget of $387,828. Expenses are running below budget also which does help. Please help by bringing your pledge current.
If you are able to keep up your pledge or make loose offerings, there are three ways.
2. Mail a check to the church, 2160 Cooper Lake Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.
The mail is checked regularly.
3. Set up automatic payments through your own bank.
We appreciate your prayers and all the ways you give to Christ's ministry.

A reminder to all parishioners that St. Benedict's is committed to the various care needs of its member families. A dedicated group of volunteers are continuing to offer their time to serve our church community within various pastoral care capacities, including prayer requests, meal delivery and help to families in need, Eucharistic visits with Diocesan-approved safe protocols, and more.
Do not hesitate to reach out to Kerry Thomas or Anna Best about Pastoral care needs for yourself, your family, or your friends. We are here to help and serve!
Additionally, Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health has established an emotional support line for individuals that may not need crisis care but do find themselves in need of emotional connection. Georgia's Crisis and Access Line can be accessed at 1-800-715-4225, or by downloading the MYGCAL app for text and chatting if there is a crisis. This is a free, confidential 24/7 hour crisis line staffed by licensed clinicians year round.
