The next meeting of The Book Club is Wednesday, May 11 at 10:00am at the church. We are reading The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. The Victorian language of flowers was used to communicate expressions and emotions. This novel is about a talented yet neglected girl aged out of the foster care system. As a florist, will she realize her gift of helping others through the flowers she chooses or will her past be too much of a struggle to overcome. This is very much a story of reaching out to help those in need and uncovering the hardships of children raised in the foster care system.

Homelessness and hunger have long been a struggle for the downtown Augusta community. In an area now designated as a food desert with no grocery stores, community members in need are hungering for a smile and a kind word as much as for a hot meal.
The Master’s Table at 702 Fenwick Street, downtown, Augusta, was created to be a place of comfort and support for people who struggle in downtown Augusta. The soup kitchen serves a hot lunch to more than 325 community members every day, 365 days per year.
Father Glenn is looking for others to join him in serving a hot lunch to God’s people at The Master’s Table on Saturday June 4th from 10:30am-12:30pm and/or Saturday July 9th from 10:30am - 12:30pm. To volunteer, speak to Father Glenn or email him at rector@holycomforterchurch.org.
