The next meeting of the Threads of Comfort ministry is Wednesday, June 15 at 10:00am and 5:00pm in the Parish Hall.
Thank you to all who turned in completed projects at our May meeting. We also appreciate that some of you were able to take time from your busy schedule to spend time in fellowship, completing projects or learning a new skill.
WAIT, WHAT!?!? Did you just read that people were learning new skills at our ministry meetings? YES, YOU DID!!!
We have several members that have learned how to crochet by coming in and working with other members that already know the skill. We’ve also had members that have started piecing fabric for quilts!!
If you are ready to learn something new, come to one of our meetings! We have many talented and creative members that will be happy to teach you how to crochet or how to quilt. Don’t be afraid to ask!!
The special skill that we all have is stitching joy, love and prayer into each of these blankets. Although we have no specific details, we DO know that a child that is in need and in our community will receive each and every blanket.
Here are the numbers from our May 18th meeting:
Project Type (number turned In)
Fleece Crocheted Edge (17)
Fleece Tied Edge (6)
Pieced Quilt Tops (4)
Crocheted Blankets (5)
Knitted Blanket (1)
Completed Quilts (2)
TOTAL 35 Blankets (we had 25 blankets completed in April!)
We sewed labels onto 40 blankets that had been brought in by Christine Newby, Project Linus Chapter Coordinator. A HUGE “Thank you” goes out to Christine for attending our meetings. She says she loves the warm and welcoming spirit that our ministry has, so she is happy to join us!
We also had a donation of 20 yards of fabric! Hmmm…..Do you have fabric in a storage box somewhere? If you’re a quilter, you’ll understand when I say that the fabric made your heart sing when you bought it, so you put it away for that special project that you would get to later. Sadly, you just haven’t gotten to it. Well, you can give that fabric a new purpose by donating it. It will be matched with other fabrics and pieced into a beautiful quilt that will make someone else’s heart sing.
Remember, when you need more supplies, email Gail ([email protected]) or Linda ([email protected]). You can also complete one of the blue request forms in the golden box on the table in the church foyer.
If you would like to bring in completed items, please leave them next to the box in the foyer with your name attached to it. Gail or Linda will pick it up.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH for being a part of the Church of the Holy Comforter Threads of Comfort Ministry. We will continue to work with Project Linus to bring blessings and comfort to the youngest members of our community.
