Annual Parish Photo: Due to Pentecost falling on Memorial Day weekend, we will re-shoot our annual parish photo immediately following worship.

Sunday, August 30th: The Rt. Rev. Frank Logue will be our Rector’s Forum guest this Sunday.

Sunday School

Sunday, August 30th at 9:15am: We'll hear the story of Moses and the Burning Bush. Together we'll discover how God called Moses for a special purpose and promised to be with him. Through Scripture, discussion, a game, and a craft, we'll explore how God is with us and calls each of us to share God's love.

YOUTH-charist

Sunday, August 30th at 9:15am: “Flawed Followers: Jonah” God has never waited for people to be perfect before calling them. Jonah tried to run from God's call, only to discover that God's grace is impossible to outrun. We'll discuss what it looks like to trust God even when He asks us to do difficult or uncomfortable things.

We gathered input that will directly inform how we strengthen our community, support our ministries, and discern where God may be calling us to next. Putting Skin on God's Love

Meal Serving: Father Glenn is looking for 10 others to serve the lunch meal at The Masters Table from 10:20-12:15pm on Monday, August 31. We meet at 702 Fenwick Street in Augusta. Wear long pants, and no open toed shoes please. If you have ball cap, please wear it or folks will have to wear a hair net.

Meal Packing: We are looking for volunteers to pack meals at 3310 Commerce Drive in Augusta. We meet Friday, September 4th from 9:00 - 11:30am. If you would like to serve or have questions, contact Griff Kelly at 206-573-1523 or Beth Alletto at 585-781-0675.

Wednesday, September 2nd and September 16th at 12pm: Bring your lunch and join the conversation! We meet in the Parish Hall for the Noonday Prayer Service followed by a discussion of the appointed lessons for the approaching Sunday.

Volunteers Needed:

English as a Second Language

Are you interested in joining a ministry to help those struggling to learn English and adapt to life in this country? Columbia County English as a Second Language (ESL) is looking for volunteers to facilitate or lead classes. No experience necessary and mentors are available to assist you. Coming to The Rector's Forum

Sunday, September 6th through Advent: We begin a discussion that will continue through Advent of Grace on the Journey to God by Father Michail Casey.

Join us for Mahjong here at Holy Comforter on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 1:00-4:00pm. Whether you’re an experienced player, newbie or want to learn you are welcome to attend.

We are limited to 16 slots at this time. Once those are filled we will create a wait list. The cost for playing or learning is $5.00 payable at the time of sign up (see below). There will be no refunds given but you may go online to your sign up and transfer your slot to someone else. When you sign up, include a comment whether you are an experienced player or beginner or need lessons. This will allow us to group people within their levels. Wednesday, September 9th at 9am: Father Glenn will host “Ramblings with the Rector” at the Dunkin Donuts down the street from the church. We’ll get together for coffee and casual conversation about any topic folks want to discuss.

The Book Club meets Wednesday, September 9th at 11:00am in the Parish Hall to discuss Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano. An exquisite homage to Louisa May Alcott’s timeless classic, Little Women, Hello Beautiful is a profoundly moving portrait of what is possible when we choose to love someone not in spite of who they are, but because of it. All are welcome.

The Holy Comforter Men’s Group meets Friday, September 11th at Cracker Barrel, 544 North Belair Road at 8:00am in the back corner.

Our Savior's Education for Ministry (EfM) evening class will begin on Monday, September 14th, 6:30 pm in Harison Hall. This class is held every Monday evening at Our Savior Episcopal Church located at 4227 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA 30907.

EfM mentor, Bob Thompson, has facilitated this class for the last 6 years and would like to invite you to participate in this 4-year program in theological study, discussion, and reflection.

EfM is housed at The School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. It is a small group formation program that prepares Christians for a life in ministry. Rooted in Christian theology, scripture, history, and ethics, EfM mentors guide conversations that are designed to lead participants into discovering ways to live fully into their faith traditions.

Prayer Shawls Available

Are you praying for someone? Do you know someone who needs a Prayer Shawl? We have a supply of them available for the asking, and you can give them or one of us will. The Prayer Crafters make shawls sometimes for one person in mind, but we also have many beautiful ones made with prayers waiting for the person that needs God’s love at this moment.
