Also needed are easily stored produce such as apples, oranges and potatoes.

We are in need of 10-12 volunteers
to help load boxes from
10am to Noon.

A DAY AT THE LAKE FOR OUR YOUTH
It’s Lake Day at Mistletoe State Park on Saturday July 24 from 9am to 4pm. There is a $5.00 parking fee to enter the park. We will be at Picnic Shelter #3. Drinks and hot dogs will be provided. Please bring sides and snacks to share. RSVP by Thursday, July 22 to Tab Carter at (706) 833-6458.

BACK TO THE CREEK RETREAT
FOR YOUTH
The Diocese of Georgia is restarting their youth programs with the Back to the Creek Youth Retreat, July 30 - Aug. 1 at Honey Creek, our diocesan conference center. Cost is $125. This is for youth in grade 6-12.

For questions or to register, contact Canon for youth Joshua Varner at jvarner@gaepiscopal.org or the pastor, Cynthia Taylor at pastor@holycomforterchurch.org.

Church of the Good Shepherd is organizing a van for those who want a ride to the conference. This is a great way to get back into the groove of our youth group and meet other teens and tweens.

THE BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
Say it isn’t so!  Columbia County schools start back on August 5. We will have our annual Blessing of the Backpacks, the following Sunday, August 8 at our 10:30 am worship service. Bring your school backpacks to be blessed. Additionally bring school supplies which we will share with our partner, Martinez Elementary School.

WELCOMING GOD'S PEOPLE
If you have a heart for hospitality, a friendly personality, and love to meet and greet new parishioners, please join our welcome team. It couldn’t be easier- just deliver a welcome packet to anyone who has visited our church, and answer any questions they may have about Holy Comforter. You will sign up for a convenient Sunday, check the guest registry, take a screen shot of visitors’ information, and then grab a welcome bag and go! To get started, or find out more, call or text Linda Hoogland at 404-510-0322.

SERVING GOD'S PEOPLE IN WORSHIP
We have several other positions that need assistance. That includes acolytes which is for those who assist the priest during the service. This is for those in the 2nd grade on up. Also needed are persons to help with the altar guild which sets up for communion and tech help with our live stream service. See the sign up sheet in the foyer.

BAKERS NEEDED
Now that we have returned to in person worship, the church is in need of volunteers to help make altar bread for each Sunday. There is a sign up sheet in the foyer for you to volunteer. Please add your contact information (email and cell #) when you sign up and I'll be happy to send a reminder. This is a ministry that is fun to do with children, grandchildren or just by yourself. The whole process only takes about 20-30 minutes. The recipe is provided on the sign up sheet (small copies are on the clipboard too) for you to take with you.

Please think about this and prayerfully consider helping with this ministry. If you have any questions, contact Linda Bargeron at lhbargeron@gmail.com or text or call at 706-267-8668.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS
Holy Comforter will offer its second pilgrimage to the Holy Land next year, lead by the rector, Cynthia Taylor along with The Rev. Donald Fishburne. May 11-20, 2022. This pilgrimage is not just for our church but for anyone who wants to experience the spiritual trip of a lifetime. We will prayerfully visit The Galilee, including Magdala, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Bethlehem and more. If you wish, you can take an optional extension to Petra and other sites. Further details can be found in the brochures in the foyer.
Preparing for Sunday is a tool to help us prepare for Sunday worship by engaging in the assigned lessons from Scripture.

It includes an overview, a lesson introduction, a reflection, and a prayer starter. It is available on our website here.

Join us for in-person worship this Sunday at 10:30am. The service will continue to be broadcast live on our Facebook page at 10:30am each Sunday morning.
