The Kairos team that serves the Augusta State Medical Prison locally is holding a Kairos weekend May 19 - 22. They have asked if we could help them with their cookies for the weekend. This is their first weekend inside since the pandemic. Their cookie restrictions are the same as those we have to follow for Leath Correctional Facility for Women in Greenwood.
1. Cookies cannot contain any nuts, raisins, craisins or any fruit. Toppings such as powdered sugar, icing, & sprinkles are NOT allowed. They can contain chocolate chips, M&Ms, chocolate kisses, or Reese’s cups.
2. Of course, home baked cookies are preferred but bought cookies can also be brought. Sandwich cookies (such as Oreos) are always welcomed. Individually wrapped rice crispy treats are a favorite. These are sold in the cookie section of most grocery stores.
3. Cookies will be packaged in sandwich bags (6 to a bag) for delivery. If you are so inclined, please feel free to bring yours in the sandwich bags. If this is not possible, just bring them in a throw away container and the team will place them in the sandwich bags for you.
4. Please pray over the cookies as you bake them. Pray for the Kairos program, the volunteers, the participants inside, the staff and the administration of the facility.
5. Drop off your cookies at Holy Comforter on Tuesday, May 17 from 10:00am to 11:00am. If this time does not work for you, please contact me and I'll be happy to pick them up from you.
These weekends bring about wonderful changes in the participants as well as the staff. Your prayers for the weekend will be appreciated.
Thank you for helping with this project and for being a part of the Kairos Prison Ministry International volunteer team. You will be visiting the prisoner through the cookies and prayers that you send.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Linda Bargeron, 706-267-8668,

Wanted: New, smiling faces to be pre-service greeters on Sunday mornings. Ms. Jeannie needs our help!

Pre-service greeters are among the first people you see when you come into worship on Sunday morning. The pre-worship greeters do just what their name says—they welcome you into our service and, if you are new, help make sure that you are introduced to others, shown around and feel comfortable in the service.

We always need people with a heart of welcome for this ministry. Please contact Tab Carter to see how you can join this re-vamped ministry -

Parenting isn't easy on the best of days. However, there are some instances where parenting really hurts. At Holy Comforter, there is a group for those parents who are in need of support and prayers as they parent their children (of any age). This group meets regularly and for purposes of confidentiality, we meet in homes. The purpose of this group is to support the parents as they walk the path of parenthood with their children. This is not a group to teach parenting skills or give advice on how to raise children. We will leave that up to the experts.
If you feel the need for such a group, call the church office at 706-210-1133 and ask to be put on the list to be contacted for the next gathering.
