CHURCH OF THE HOLY COMFORTER
April 1, 2021

MAUNDY THURSDAY
Join the Diocese of Georgia for a live stream service at 7pm on their Facebook page.

GOOD FRIDAY
Starting at 12 Noon. We will do the Stations of the Cross inside the church wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. If you are unable to attend, join the Diocese of Georgia at noon or 7pm for their services.

EASTER SUNDAY
Services at 8:30 am and 10:30 am. Space is limited to the first 50 people. We encourage families with children to attend the latter service so that the kids can participate in the Easter egg hunt which follows. Households without children are encouraged to attend the early service.

Easter worship will be identical at both services and we will have a guest soloist. If there is an overflow of persons, they will be seated outside so we can maintain safety procedures. However they can still fully participate in worship.
The service of Holy Eucharist will continue to be broadcast live on our Facebook page at 10:30am Sunday morning.

EASTER EGG HUNT
After the conclusion of the 10:30am service, the children will have their annual Easter egg hunt. Please wait for the signal from our Children’s Ministry Director Cheryl Spessert to start the hunt.

WELCOME TO OUR GUEST SOLOIST
We welcome Bennett Wright as our guest soloist this Sunday. Bennett sings with the Church of the Good Shepherd Choir and is President of the Davidson Chorale.

SAFETY FIRST
We are still observing safety procedures as outlined by the CDC and the Diocese of Georgia. That means maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, no congregational singing or exchanging the peace.

THE OTHER HOLY WEEK
Masters Week and Spring break come on the heels of Easter. The church office will be closed on Easter Monday, April 5 and open for appointments only Tuesday through Thursday.

A HEART TO SERVE
We are looking for men and women to assist as members of the Altar Guild. These persons are responsible for setting up for worship, in particular communion. We will train you. Interested? Contact Karen Sheppard at kshepp55@yahoo.com and thank you!

KEEP THE FOOD COMING
So far this year we have collected 3600 pounds of food! Our next drive through food drive is Saturday May 1 from 10am—noon. Please bring non-perishable food or easily stored produce such as apples and potatoes. And thank you—you are making a difference in out area.
THE BOOK OF JOY
A TWO PART STUDY
The Book of Joy is a poignant and heartwarming account of a week-long conversation between the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Two of the world's most influential spiritual leaders share their accumulated wisdom, and discuss one of life's most fundamental questions, 'How do we find joy and light, amidst so much darkness and suffering?'

This is a two part study on Wednesday April 21 and 28 and is led by the pastor, Cynthia Taylor. Contact Dr. Taylor for more information at pastor@holycomforterchurch.org. In order to accommodate those who work, we can meet anytime after 5pm. Please indicate the best time for you as well as if you want to meet in person, following safety requirements or on Zoom.
Preparing for Sunday is a tool to help us prepare for Sunday worship by engaging in the assigned lessons from Scripture.

It includes an overview, a lesson introduction, a reflection, and a prayer starter. It is available on our website here.

GIVING

HOW TO GIVE
If at all possible, please keep up with your financial gifts to the church. Money is always tight but never more than now. When this crisis has passed, I want us to pick up where we left off and continue to expand our mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.

There are several ways to give. You can press the "Donate Now" button below or go on-line to our website at www.holycomforterchurch.org and click on Giving at the top right hand. Finally, you can mail checks to: Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Fury’s Ferry Road, Martinez, Georgia, 30809.

For those with an IRA account, due to COVID-19, RMDs in 2020 are not required but are still a tax saving for the donor and much needed and appreciated by Holy Comforter.
