YOUTH-charist
Sunday, October 4th at 9:15am: Misquoted Messiah: "Everything Happens for a Reason" Following Jesus means listening to what He actually said—not just what culture says about Him. When difficult things happen, people often try to offer comfort with the phrase, "Everything happens for a reason." Together we'll examine what Scripture says about suffering, God's presence in our pain, and the hope we find in Christ.

In honor of Church of the Holy Comforter's recent 25th anniversary and our community Friendsgiving Celebration, we are providing 25 local households with everything needed for a Thanksgiving meal.
We need your help to fill all 25 meal boxes!
| |
Give financially: Use the Secure Giving Link here, or write a check with “Thanksgiving Meal Boxes” on the memo line.
Donate food: Place items in the Thanksgiving Meal Box Collection Box in the Lobby.
Funds or food beyond what is needed for the meal boxes will be given to support the Byllesby Center allowing your generosity to continue helping neighbors in our community. Once our essential needs are met, we may also add a few “nice-to-have” items to make each family’s Thanksgiving box even more special.
Every can, box, bag, and dollar gets us closer to providing a complete Thanksgiving meal for 25 households in honor of 25 years of Holy Comforter—and any abundance will help us share the feast even further.

Thanks to so many Kairos Cookie Angels at Holy Comforter, I will be delivering 2436 delicious cookies to the Kairos team. They will be going inside the prison for Kairos Prison Ministry week beginning Tuesday and lasting until Friday. Each day every inmate at Leath Correctional will receive a bag of cookies that you helped provide with a note of scripture. The ladies look forward for their cookies and many paste the notes of scripture inside their bibles. Thank you for "visiting the prisoner" with your cookies and prayers. | | | |

CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR INMATES
| |
Each year, our church collects unused Christmas cards to send to all the ladies at Leath Correctional Institution for Women in Greenwood, SC. In many cases, this may be the only Christmas Card that they receive. You don’t have to purchase new cards. Bring the cards that you have left over from past years to the church and place them in the box marked “Christmas Cards for Inmates” in the foyer. Cards cannot have any glitter or add on pieces. Each card must have an envelope that it will fit in. Please do not write anything inside the card or on the envelope. This will be done later. Currently there are about 650 inmates at that facility.
This year the cards are needed by Oct. 25. I realize that is soon but to get them to the facility by Thanksgiving, we need to gather them early. Cards can be dropped off at the church office M – Th from 10:00 – 1:00. There will be a box to collect these Christmas cards in the church foyer.
If you would like to assist with writing a short and simple message inside the cards, please sign up on the form beside the collection box. You will be contacted when it is time to prepare the cards. Questions: Linda Bargeron at lhbargeron@gmail.com or 706-267-8668 (text)
