Jefferson County Issues Temporary Moratorium on Data Centers | |
During a public hearing on Tuesday, May 19, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners voted to issue a 10-month moratorium on data centers within the county. This moratorium applies to any new applications for development of, or rezoning to allow, data centers but excludes land that is already specifically zoned to allow data centers through a Planned Development, provided such data center is at least 1,500 feet from any dwelling. | | New T-Rex Tooth Trail in South Table Mountain Park to Open Soon | |
A new 1.5-mile natural surface trail is coming to South Table Mountain Park, offering visitors a chance to explore where history runs deep, literally. The T-rex Tooth Trail connects with Fossil Trail, Old Quarry Trail and Basalt Cap Loop to create a 3-mile loop experience.
This new trail started in 2025 and is the result of a strong community effort, with 318 volunteers contributing 1,316 hours to bring it to life. Interpretive signs will highlight both the area’s prehistoric and cultural history. Learn more.

Each year, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners receives multiple funding requests. To ensure fair and equitable decision-making, the Non-County Agencies and Programs (NCAP) process was created to help allocate taxpayer dollars to projects that support the safety and well-being of Jeffco residents.
Interested parties may apply for funding now through June 8. More information can be found at the NCAP page on the Jefferson County website.

The Colorado Department of Transportation with prime contractor, Brannan Sand and Gravel, will begin a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 74 (Bear Creek Road) between Evergreen Lake and Lair O’ the Bear Park in May. The project will consist of roadway surface treatment work, which will entail an asphalt mill and overlay. The project — which will be ongoing through this fall — is expected to offer a smoother driving experience, enhance pedestrian accessibility through Evergreen and improve safety infrastructure along the corridor. | | Jefferson County Wraps Up Culvert Replacement Project Near Evergreen | |
Jefferson County Transportation and Engineering has completed the replacement of two culverts along Lewis Ridge Road and Larkspur Drive near Evergreen.
After an inspection, the county determined the condition of the pipes warranted replacement of the culverts. Construction commenced in September and was completed by May 1. Learn more.

During the Jeffco Public Schools board meeting on May 11, the Partnership for Fiscal Sustainability presented its recommendation for a proposed $135 million funding package that includes a $75 million general mill levy override (MLO) and a $60 million special purpose MLO. This proposed package would cost taxpayers approximately $3.58 per $100,000 of actual home value per month.
