| | Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week — Nov. 16-22 | |
Jefferson County Commissioners Andy Kerr, Lesley Dahlkemper and Rachel Zenzinger proclaimed Nov. 16-22, 2025, as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Hunger and homelessness are intertwined: food insecurity often leads to housing instability, and vice versa. This topic is especially fitting and close to our hearts as thousands in our community were recently impacted by the pause in SNAP benefits due to the federal government shutdown.
We are thankful to Jefferson County staff that worked hard to connect residents with food resources during the shutdown. In particular we would like to thank Jefferson County Human Services, Jefferson County Public Health and Jefferson County's Emergency Management team. We would also like to thank nonprofits like The Action Center for working every day to help those in need.
