Prescott Circus Newsletter: November 29, 2021
Dear Friends, Fans, and Family,

Change has been a particularly vibrant and challenging force in our lives these past two years. From the most isolating phases of the pandemic to the “return” of in person programming, Prescott Circus has been a consistent source of joy, connections, and engaged learning for our students, schools, and communities.

We’ve seen many students struggling with the social and emotional demands of returning to full-day, in person schooling this year. Community based programs like ours are providing essential creative, relationship-centered activities that engage the body, mind, and spirit. However, funding from school partners only covers one-third of actual program costs. We depend on our community of donors to ensure continuity with our schools and students.

As a fan, you know how these programs benefit more than just our children’s lives. Equitable arts programs contribute to the wellbeing and vitality of our schools and communities. Your donation will directly support our 2021-2022 activities for over 200 students across eight Oakland public schools. Help us meet our Fall Giving Campaign target of $10,000 today with a tax-deductible contribution to keep Oakland's children in the center ring laughing and learning together.

With Gratitude,

David Hunt, Executive / Artistic Director

Advancing Students Reach New Heights
PCT's Circus Pathways for Older Youth provides advanced opportunities for 12 - 20 year old students in circus and theater arts to train, perform, produce, teach, and grow.
Students Take to the Air
This past month, middle and high school Circus Pathways students, along with select 5th graders, participated in weekly aerial workshops through a generous partnership with Kinetic Arts Center (KAC). Youth trained with KAC's Artist Director, Kate Hutchinson, supporting staff, and Circus Spire students, and made great progress on static trapeze, aerial silks, and lyra (aerial hoop). We saw each participant grow in body and spirit with each session. Thank you, Kinetic Arts Center, for this very special opportunity!
PCT Students Join the California Revels for December Production!
Two PCT older youth will be featured stilt dancers in the California Revel's production of La Sirène this December. The production blends 19th Century London with folklore and traditions from the Caribbean and Gullah Islands in an odyssey across the Atlantic. The show takes place December 11 - 19 in Oakland and will be streamed online on December 21. There is limited capacity this year so get your tickets quick!
Community Open House Postponed
We are sorry to share that we have postponed our December 2nd Open House. We will reschedule for early in 2022 so stay tuned! In the meantime, please visit our friends at 7th West Restaurant and Bar in West Oakland this holiday season. It's a fantastic outdoor venue (with heat lamps!)
