May 2025

President's Message

Charles W. Davis, Jr,

PhD, CSSGB

At FES, our success is built on the dedication of volunteers who help lead, shape, and support the future of our profession.

As we step into May, I want to take a moment to reflect on April, which was National Volunteer Month – a time to celebrate the spirit of service and recognize those who give their time and energy to make a difference. At FES, our success is built on the dedication of volunteers who help lead, shape, and support the future of our profession.

As we prepare for the 2025 – 2026 year, I encourage each of you to consider volunteering for one of our many FES Committees or even stepping into a Committee Chair role.

What's in this Issue:

  • Cover Story: Restoring Reefs in Hot Waters
  • Planning Never Ceases: Hurricane Response Prep Takes Years-Long Focus
