FREE Math Tutoring from Elevate Tutoring:

Elevate Tutoring (www.elevatetutoring.org) attracts high-performing first-generation college students from local colleges who get trained as tutors and then provide free math tutoring to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. If you are interested in applying for two hours of free tutoring per week for the remainder of the semester, fill out the form that can be found on Elevate's website. Simply go to elevatetutoring.org/web/tutoring/ and click on Free Tutoring and fill out the short application.

If you think you might be interested in becoming an Elevate Tutor, you can learn about that on the website as well: elevatetutoring.org/web/apply (this would be for Fall 2021)

Mission College Career & Transfer Prep Highlights:

The workshops are a great opportunity for students to get help in building a resume, networking with peers and professionals, and getting informed about their transfer options. We are fortunate to have faculty in our Counseling, Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering Departments leading or participating in the sessions.

BioEngineering at Berkeley Seminar
April 7, 2021 – 5 p.m.

West Valley College alumni, and current UC Berkeley BioEngineering student, Jacob Bryan will give a workshop where you can learn more about BioEngineering at Berkeley.

More from Jacob below:

"My name is Jacob and I'm a UC Berkeley Transfer student from West Valley College. This Spring, I'm serving as the Outreach Committee Chair for our Bioengineering Honors Society at UC Berkeley. Our goal at the Outreach Committee is to reach out to as many students as possible and introduce them to the field of bioengineering--one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States. As a transfer student, I'm excited to announce that this is the first semester our organization will be reaching out to transfer students."

Ideally, this outreach event will involve giving an interactive virtual presentation followed by a Q&A session.

Some of the topics covered in the presentation include:
  • What is bioengineering?
  • What careers are available after a Bioengineering Degree
  • Opportunities at UC Berkeley
  • Layout the ASSIST.org transfer agreement to inform students of classes necessary to transfer to Berkeley

This workshop will be held during EGR10 on April 7. For access to the workshop, please email Dr. Bob at bob.schaffer@missioncollege.edu.

Biomedical Engineering Conference
This conference is sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Society at SJSU and will be completely virtual.

Community College students can register for $20 (early) or $30 (late). More details can be found at: biomedconference.org
