ELA Receives John Irwin School of Excellence Award
Congratulations to Englewood Leadership Academy for earning the John Irwin School of Excellence Award for 2016!
 
This award recognizes schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement. On the three-year school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, Englewood Leadership Academy has exceeded expectations on the academic achievement indicator.

Participate in Research and Get a $5 Gift Card
A graduate student from the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver is inviting families to participate in a research study about family engagement and postsecondary and workforce readiness.

Participants will be asked to do a 45 minute to 1 hour interview for the study, and will receive a $5 Target gift card.

Adult Education Classes
Englewood Schools partners with Spring Institute to bring adult education classes to the community.

Adult Basic and Secondary Education Classes (GED, HiSET, TASC)
Classes are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Englewood Community Education Center (700 W. Mansfield Ave.)
Cost is $25/month (March - May)
Next registrations are Monday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m.

Adult English as a Second Language Classes
Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Bishop Elementary (3100 S. Elati)
Cost is $25 (March - May)
Next registration is Monday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m.

Family Wellness Events
Englewood Schools hopes you will take advantage of these events that promote wellness for the whole family!
On Friday, March 17, South Metro Health Alliance presents "Achieving Wellness" from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Porter Adventist Hospital (2525 S. Downing St., Denver, CO 80210.) A panel of speakers will cover wellness topics related to finances, relationships, mind/body meditation and mental health. A light breakfast will be served and free valet parking is available. On April 11 and 13, learn about the laws and health effects of retail marijuana and how to talk to your kids about it. Two sessions are offered: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at Maddox ECE (700 W. Mansfield Ave., Englewood) Sessions are in English and Spanish.

On Wednesday, April 26, join us for Healing Our Youth: Get Educated! This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, teachers and youth workers to become informed about youth mental health and substance use. The event will take place at Colorado's Finest High School of Choice (300 W. Chenango Ave.) from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Learn more and register here.
