HCA Supports Employee Wellness

On Saturday, April 11th, SCPS held its annual Strolling with Serita event. This 5K and wellness event is SCPS' biggest health event of the year and is free to all employees and their families.

Each year, the event continues to grow and impact our employees. We extend our sincere gratitude to HCA Florida Healthcare for their continued sponsorship and unwavering support. Their partnership plays a vital role in making this event possible and meaningful for our SCPS community!

"At HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, we are committed to supporting the overall health and well-being of the communities we serve,"

said HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital Chief Executive Officer John Gerhold. "Through HCA Florida Healthcare's partnership with Seminole County Public Schools and initiatives like 'Strolling with Serita' we are helping expand access to important wellness resources and encouraging health habits for Seminole County educators and their families, creating opportunities to prioritize their health and build a stronger, healthier future."

Congratulations Take Stock Seniors!

Last week, 30 graduating seniors were celebrated at our Take Stock in Children (TSIC) Graduation Celebration presented by Massey Services, Inc. Seminole County Public School leaders, TSIC mentors, and family members were there to join in on the celebration.

It was an amazing night full of excitement, gratitude, and enthusiasm for the future! Congratulations grads!

TSIC Seminole is a college readiness program of The Foundation. Students benefit from weekly mentor sessions and college readiness services throughout high school. Upon graduation, they are awarded a 2-year Florida prepaid college scholarship. We are so proud of all our students!

Each year the Foundation awards grants to teachers who have a great idea for their classroom or grade. During the month of April Foundation staff have been visiting classrooms to see the different projects in action.

At Winter Springs Elementary, 1st grade students spent time immersing themselves in different habitats around the world. After creating their own diorama they worked on their presentation skills so they could show the class their hard work!

Another Grants for Great Ideas project that our staff visited was at Greenwood Lakes Middle School. This project used funds for 3D printers that allow students to safely explore things too dangerous in real life such as volcanoes, hurricanes, fault lines, and even spacecraft systems, by holding them in their hands!

The class is able to create accurate models of hazardous phenomena so students can investigate, design solutions, and build real engineering mindsets without any risks.
