"Come with me into the woods. Where spring is advancing, as it does, no matter what, not being singular or particular, but one of the forever gifts, and certainly visible."- Mary Oliver

Innoculating Logs!

Our annual mushroom workshop was informative and fun. Folks went home with their very own shiitake mushroom logs and hope for mushrooms in the fall.

Spring is Sprouting

On one of the coldest days of winter, Horticulturist Ellen Scheid hosted a winter seed sowing workshop. We experimented with propagation and kept a few of the milk jugs in the misthouse. These jugs have begun to sprout! The jugs outdoors have a few more weeks until we start seeing any seedlings.

Staff Note

As we welcome the vibrant season of spring, the garden is bustling with activity after the challenges of winter. Despite the damage caused by our furry friends, the resilience of our conifer garden will prevail. Our dedicated team is hard at work with the spring clean-up and pruning. The garden is already showcasing delightful signs of spring, from the breathtaking flush of crocus and snowdrops to the blooms of witchhazels and pussy willows. We encourage you to come and explore these early wonders, as there is so much in store for the season ahead. We look forward to Dogwood Days 2026, where we can celebrate our community's passion for nature!
