Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum to host Plant Geek Day on August 26, 2026 7:30AM-3:00PM

On Wednesday, August 26th MNLA (Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association) is partnering with the Arboretum for their annual Plant Geek Day. This event will highlight the arboretum's new native plant garden, the meadow project, and the conifer collection. The event is open to the public and is a great way to meet gardening professionals and amateurs alike. Register Here by August 20th.

Blue Hills Fest

Explore all of the organizations that call the Blue Hills home, including the Wakefield Arboretum. The gardens will be open from 10AM-4PM on Saturday, then we will end the day with Music Among the Trees, which includes live music by the Silver String Slingers, refreshments, and a garden tour in the evening. Staff members attend Down to Earth Conference in Deerfield, Masachusetts

The Wakefield Arboretum had a booth at the annual Down to Earth conference with the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association. Staff were able to attend educational and thought-provoking talks and network with others in the industry.

Staff Note

This summer has been filled with hoses, sprinklers, and a lot of sunshine. Our staff has been busy dragging hoses to every corner of the garden to help keep our hundreds of new additions watered. One of my favorite parts about the arboretum's formal gardens is the plethora of shade the mature specimens have to offer. August is a lovely time to visit the gardens because of the beautiful, shady spots to hide in with a book or a refreshing drink.
