Covid Chronicles- Week 4
Greetings from my living room couch. Well, we have all made it through another week of social distancing/isolation. How is everyone holding up? I have to say, for me, this week was a mixed bag. As much as I try to not panic and stay positive through this pandemic pandemonium, the reality of what we are up against hit me hard. I think the collective stress and grief of what we have all been going through just started to sink in.
I have definitely had a few rough, sleepless nights worrying about family, friends, customers and the future of the business I have built over the last 25 years. But as difficult as those nights are, I wake the next day knowing we will get through this together. I also learned this week how important it is for me to stay connected to people, to feel connected to "community" in whatever way I can. That connection to others, along with my mask, gloves and hand sanitizer are the best tools we have to get through this crisis.
One wonderful way I connected with community this week was through an online Passover seder with several friends. I am not a very religious person nor did I grow up celebrating Jewish holidays. I usually feel pretty out of place in religious settings, but felt it was important this year to push through my discomfort in an effort to connect. I am so happy I did! We shared stories, songs, memories and oogled at each others holiday dishes through the computer screen. It felt wonderful to just be together laughing and being together. I hope you all have an opportunity this holiday week to connect with your community, whether it be family, friends, neighbors....wherever you can. It is truly healing.
And of course, I want to thank all of you that connected with our In Full Swing community through our website, Facebook, Instagram, phone, email or text. I appreciate each and everyone one of you. For all of you who have placed orders, bought gift certificates, asked for a shop at home box......thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday week. I hope you enjoy some of the new items I have added to our online shop.
