A romance novel that's also a heist! Glamour, intrigue, and a scorching hot romance is the perfect recipe for a beach read, exciting enough you won't fall asleep in the sun, the only danger is you'll finish before your vacation is finished!

Lucky You by Carl Hiaasen |
When twentysomething JoLane Lucks wins half the Florida state lottery, she soon learns there's another winning ticket—held by lifelong criminal Bode Gazzer, who'll stop at nothing to get the whole jackpot for himself. What makes this a beach read?--Like all beach reads, Lucky You is easy and fast-paced; plus someone actually dies on the beach.

This book was chosen by Libby and Overdrive as Big Library Read's book club pick for July. A perfect beach read, this touching and witty page-turner is follows Natalie Walker home to the beach town of Santa Cruz, California for the first time in 15 years where she hopes to reunite with her estranged siblings after the death of their mom.

Jurassic Park by Michel Crichton |
My beach read is sandy mass-market paperback thriller who pages are soft from being read in the salt air. I'm recommending Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, a rare example of a title where the book and the movie are equally excellent.

Ever wonder what goes on in the most remote depths of the ocean? How Far the Light Reaches by queer biracial science journalist Sabrina Imbler takes the reader on a remarkable exploration-- combining illuminating descriptions of ten ocean creatures attempting to survive in ecologically-threatened environments with parallel experiences of being marginalized in a sometimes hostile world.

After heart surgery, Sunny wants to do things she's never done before and become someone new. Set at the beach during summer vacation, this book has all the issues -- friends, parents, health, LGBTQ+, adventure, breaking the rules -- and it's a fabulous, sweet, heartbreaking, empowering read.
