Enjoy the Season...

I'm going to confess now and just get it over with. I love Christmas! Don't get me wrong. I like the other holidays of the year, but if I had to pick one that I couldn't live without, Christmas would win hands down.

It's not the receiving or giving of gifts that I like, but rather, the trappings that surround the season. The music (I could play it year round if given the chance) calls to my heart and soul and frequently brings a tear to my eye. The old classics done with a modern twist are now bringing joy to people of all ages, and some of the new songs that are being released are sure to become holiday favorites for years to come.

No matter how big or how small, a tree decked out with lights and ornaments will always bring a smile to my face. Artificial or real, it doesn't matter to me. I love them all. I love gazing at the creativity of someone's imagination and marveling at their sense of style. Why? I think it is because each tree is different and unique, a reflection of the soul of that special person who decorated their little (or big) multi-branched creation.

I can't leave out the lights. Lights anywhere and everywhere will always bring a smile to my face. As a child I always looked forward to driving around the neighborhood just to see all of the different lights. Some twinkled and some didn't but that wasn't important to me. Just seeing them was enough and I still haven't outgrown the desire to "see the lights of the season."

Have you taken a moment and check out that tree you walk past every day? How about slowing down a little bit as you drive past the lighted decorations on a business or house? Take a moment and listen to the music, even "if only in your dreams" and enjoy the season before it's gone for another year.
