Wouldn't it be nice if it rained something besides rain?
It does! It's our limited view that keeps us only seeing the rain, or problems in our life.
And, why shouldn't we focus on that darn rain! - "It's cold!" "I'm in bad health!" "That jerk just cut me off!" "Can't they control their kids in a restaurant!" "This line is only for six items or less, Buster!" "I can't afford all the stuff my family wants for Christmas!" "I can't believe they are leaving me after all that I've done for them!"
The rain falls on the just and the unjust. But so do blessings!
There was a song when I was a kid that went "When I'm worried and I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep and I go to sleep counting my blessings." I've done that many times, and it works - I hardly make a dent in the list of blessings.
For example, I just spent 13 days in four hospitals over a three week period - I could be
bitter. However, a dozen doctors and several dozen nurses and staff were working to make me better. Today, a couple of weeks later, I am definitely
Do I still have problems? Yes. I am on hemodialysis three times a week for four hours each time. However, I still have an incredible wife. I have lost a lot of weight [which was a battle before. My jowls have shrunk. My chest doesn't hurt. I can go on forever to even include the universe what allows our existence to be supported.
So it is with this time of year with the trifecta of Thankful Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
Give thanks with a grateful heart for all that you've been given.
Who gave you the talent to make the money to purchase things? Who gave you the brow and sweat to work hard? Who put you together with your family and friends? There are a lot of questions like these for which to be thankful. You can even include "who gave those guys on my team all their talent?"
This is the definitive time in history when it became absolutely clear that the God of love is with you, in you, and for you.
What do you have to do for this?
Nothing! God did it all.
This is more than a time of parties, merriment, parades, and football.
This is your time to live without guilt because your sins have been forgiven. - So believe and live accordingly!.
When it raindrops keep falling on your head, remember that there are a multitude more blessings than there are raindrops!
Enjoy Your Blessings This Holiday Season
