Reintroducing Peace Education Program's eNews

We are excited to introduce our monthly eNewsletter in 2025 as a way to keep you informed and connected with the impactful work happening at Peace Education. Your interest and support fuel our mission, and we’re thrilled to share regular updates, highlights, and insights from our programs.

At Peace Education, our mission is to strengthen schools and communities by reducing conflict, fostering leadership, and cultivating a culture of open dialogue and respect. Through initiatives like peer mediation, conflict resolution training, and mentoring programs like Navigators, we empower students and educators with the skills they need to thrive in peaceful, collaborative environments.

As we embark on a new year, we reflect on the accomplishments of 2024—a year marked by dynamic activity and meaningful impact. Our team worked extensively in Jefferson County Public Schools and community sites, equipping students with tools for conflict resolution, training peer mediation teams, and mentoring young men to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.

Celebrating a Year of Growth and Connection

This summer, the Peace Education Program team participated in the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) and Counselor Mini-Conferences. These events provided invaluable opportunities to connect with both current and new JCPS staff, fostering partnerships to better serve students through our shared commitment to peacebuilding.

A standout highlight of the year was the Peace Education Gala held at the stunning Waterfront Botanical Gardens on October 24. The evening was filled with inspiration as students and adults whose lives have been positively transformed by Peace Education shared their stories. It was a joyous occasion, bringing together our staff, supporters, and program participants in celebration of the meaningful work we do.

Another memorable event was our annual Golf Scramble at Shawnee Golf Course. This gathering brought together individuals who champion the mission of Peace Education, offering a wonderful opportunity to support our efforts in teaching peaceful conflict resolution skills across the community.

This year also brought changes to our team. We bid a heartfelt farewell to our Executive Director, Rose Livingston, whose dedication and leadership left a lasting impact. At the same time, we welcomed new members to our team: Gregory Powell and LaToya McIntyre, both of whom bring valuable experience from their time with Pivot to Peace, and Egide Nduwimana, a former Peace Education participant who now contributes to our mission in a new capacity.

As we reflect on a successful year, we are energized to build on our achievements and extend our reach even further across Louisville. Together, we will continue teaching the skills of engagement over rage, creating a foundation for peace and understanding in our community.

We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for your unwavering support and partnership in this vital work.
