Greetings!
Enoch or Elvis?
Enoch is my biblical hero! Why? Because he walked with God for over 300 years in a degenerate age just before the flood. In fact his walk with God was so intimate that God translated him because he had this testimony, “That he pleased God.” Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5.
So it may be with you and I! If we Live as the Psalmist says, “I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalm 16:8
Not complicated is it? Or is it? It is left with us to have a continual awareness of His presence by responding to His still small voice to our conscience according to His Word. Is that you?
Elvis was also an icon. Gifted, talented, rich, famous, but his sufficiency was in himself and not God. He died at age 42 from drug abuse and carousing. I’m sad 😢. That didn’t have to be. Satan cannot overcome anyone whose heart is stayed upon God and God alone.
So in your heart, mind and daily actions which one are you following, Enoch or Elvis?
Or are you a blend of the two? One arm reaching towards the walk that Enoch possessed and one arm striving for the temporary fame, fortune and fun that Elvis pursued? We are told that, “ A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8 This double mindedness vacillates between the unique life of Enoch and the stardom of Elvis.
As for me, I’m choosing the Enoch life!
Enoch spent much time in nature getting to know nature’s God and that is where I find myself as often as possible, in nature getting to know my God!
