Glimpses of World History Series
Glimpses of World History Series to Begin at La Selva Beach Branch Library, Second and fourth Saturdays in January, February, and March, 1 – 2:30pm.

Dr. Robert Strayer, Ph.D of European and African History, presents a series of six illustrated talks dealing with particular topics in world history and their implications for the present. These free events take place from 1 – 2:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays in January, February, and March at the La Selva Beach Branch Library, 316 Estrella Ave. The first event in the series on January 14th, “In the Beginning: 95% of the Human Story” covers the Paleolithic Era.

On Saturday, January 28, 11am – 3pm, the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History invites us to a FREE festive day celebrating the past, present, and future of sharing the wonder of nature and science exploration in Santa Cruz County. We'll connect with today’s local environmental leaders and partner organizations to learn and have fun just outside the Museum doors in Tyrrell Park.

Disaster Recovery Centers
The County of Santa Cruz, in conjunction with federal, State and local partners, has opened two Disaster Recovery Centers.

They include staff from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the California Office of Emergency Service (CalOES), the County of Santa Cruz, and various state and local agencies that include disaster recovery as part of their mission.

Anyone impacted by the disaster is invited to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to access information and resources needed for recovery, regardless of the type of damage suffered, location of impacted residence or business, insurance status, immigration status, or any other factor.

Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS) is the local non-profit responsible for building, maintaining, and advocating for trails all throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. Triple-P Family Fair, Thursday, January 26, 2 – 5pm, As part of the month-long celebration, Community Bridges is hosting two Triple P Family Fairs in January, in partnership with Ecology Action, Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History and Special Parents Information Network.
