“For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3
This verse from the Judeo-Christian tradition resonates with me, as I retire on Dec. 8 from my position as InterFaith Works’ Director of Development—a position I have been fortunate to hold for almost 10 years. Most of us dream of being unfettered, but it is bittersweet for me as I conclude a life phase that has kept me secure, engaged and challenged. The most difficult part is saying goodbye to those I have been blessed to meet and work with over the past decade.
I do feel strongly, however, that it’s time to have more time for myself and my loved ones—and to give someone else the opportunity to bring new energy and ideas to the agency.
Reflecting on the past decade, I am grateful to have witnessed InterFaith Works’ astonishing growth. A few highlights include the purchase and renovation of 1010 James Street (the headquarters that enabled us to house all divisions and staff under one roof), our new environmentally “green” parking lot, and, especially, the exponential growth in all divisions: The Center for Dialogue & Action, The Center for Healthy Aging, and The Center for New Americans. My colleagues are to be commended for their creativity, resilience, and hard work! And the future shines bright, as the agency continues to develop much-needed programs to serve our Central New York neighbors, builds its endowment, and invests in its facilities.
It has been my honor to serve this agency and to know and work with its dedicated staff, volunteers, Board, Round Table of Faith Leaders and, of course, the donors who make our work possible.
I want to thank everyone who supports InterFaith Works with their time, treasure, and talents, and I wish Godspeed to all who walk alongside us in our mission to affirm the dignity of all.
