Rowan's Entrepreneurial Ecosystem At-A-Glance
Greetings from the Rowan Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship!

The Spring 2020 semester is well underway. Since January, the RCIE has run about 20 programs and events bringing in nearly 400 students of various disciplines at Rowan. We are looking forward to what the remainder of the semester has in store.

Judge the 2020 Rohrer New Venture Expo!
On April 17th from 11am-1pm, the RCIE will host its second annual New Venture Expo featuring 60 idea stage student startups. To pull this off we are actively recruiting judges to circulate the Expo. If you are interested in joining us or would like more information, please contact Jess Vattima.
Coffee with an Entrepreneur feat. Kevin Crichton (2/5)
Join the RCIE on February 5th at 11AM for Coffee with an Entrepreneur featuring Kevin Crichton, President and COO of Mortgage Management. Mortgage Management is a $1.4 Billion per annum retail/wholesale lender licensed in more than 42 states. RSVP here.
Dr. Jonathan Spelman to lead Faculty Seminar Series (3/3)
Dr. Jonathan Spelman, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Ohio Northern University, will lead the Faculty Seminar Series on March 3rd at 2PM. Spelman's workshop, titled "Discussing Ethics as a Way to Help Students Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset", will teach faculty various tools to introduce ethics into any course, regardless of the subject. Building your brand is an essential part of your business and marketing strategies - and Studio 231 can help. Join the S231 team on March 26th for a Cricut Maker tutorial and learn how to revamp your marketing techniques, design packaging, and swag specific to your brand. Innovation Express
Innovation Express is a workshop series designed to equip first time founders with tools and skills they need to grow their business. These workshops are ideal for students with business ideas interested in taking them further or prospective competitors in the Idea Challenge, Rohrer New Venture Competition & Expo, or prospective RIVF companies.

Gerry Schreiber Meets With Senior Entrepreneurship Students
Gerry Shreiber, President and CEO of J&J Foods Snack Foods Corp, sat down with Rowan's Entrepreneurship seniors for a meet and greet dinner. He candidly shared his story and outlook on business and entrepreneurship. Read more about what he had to say here. Mike Williams Hosts Coffee With An Entrepreneur
Mike Williams, President of SureWay Property Management, kicked off the Spring Coffee with an Entrepreneur series speaking to over 30 students. According to Mike, "Entrepreneurship is all about opportunity. When you see a problem, create a solution and make change." He added that you should be passionate about your ideas and businesses because passion will drive success. Thank you, Mike!

Billy Martin and Tim Malloy, authors of One Thing: Insight from top executives on what it takes to be a great leader, led a workshop focused on helping our entrepreneurship students become entrepreneurial leaders. A special thank you to Tony Calabrese for sponsoring the event.
Marty Buchalski Speaks To Students About Entrepreneurship
Martin Buchalski, CEO of International Consumer Products, Inc., spoke at two class sections of Entrepreneurship & Innovation and hosted Coffee with an Entrepreneur this month. Martin explained his entrepreneurial journey and discussed the key learning blocks of starting a business, noting that intellectual curiosity is the key to success.
Ballard Spahr Associates Host "Raising A Unicorn" Speaker Event
The RCIE partnered with Alpha Beta Psi to host Justin Klein, Gregory Seltzer, and Kimberly Klayman of Ballard Spahr LLP at the Spotlight Speaker Series. Their talk, titled "Raising a Unicorn", discussed developing a successful startup and raising capital. Read the full recap featured on The Whit here.
Daniel Burke Speaks About Photo, Video, & Drone Company
Daniel Burke, Owner of Daniel Burke Photo, Video, and Drone Productions, spoke to nearly 40 students during Coffee with an Entrepreneur. Dan said that being an entrepreneur takes passion and grit, noting, "You don't need to be the smartest or strongest person, but you need grit to succeed." He also spoke on the importance of networking in business, especially the photo and video industry.
