FACESOFDEVOTION: Love, Marriage, and Mary
In His last words from the cross, Jesus gave us His Mother, Mary, as our mother. Through her intercession, she connects us with heaven, and showers God’s graces upon us, our marriages, and our families. When we entrust our relationships to Mary and imitate her as a model of love and faith, our relationships are transformed, and our lives are filled with God’s peace.
Lent 2021 Video Series: "Prayer in Motion"
Join us on a Lenten journey about the transformative power of prayer.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 17, and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 4, The Miraculous Medal Shrine will release daily video reflections on Prayer in Motion: The Transformative Power of Prayer. These short daily reflections feature men and women from all walks of life, discussing how prayer has led to personal growth and change.

Their stories show that if we're open to personal reflection and communication with God, our lives will be transformed in unpredictable ways. We'll experience a deeper peace, stronger sense of purpose, and greater personal and communal well-being.

Join us on this journey of faith, and learn ways that others have set their Prayer in Motion. Sign up now to receive daily reflection emails throughout the 2021 Lenten season.

Year of St. Joseph
March 5, 12, 19, 26, 7:30 p.m., Zoom

Bells of Honor
As The Miraculous Medal Shrine joined other churches and houses of worship on May 3 to ring our bells for COVID first responders, we also joined a nationwide tribute to Covid-19 victims by ringing our bells at 5:30 p.m. on January 19. Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament were held in the church, as well, imploring Jesus – through the heart of Mary – to end the pandemic.

DIDYOUKNOW?

Did you know that the Greek word “histemi” means "to stand, make firm, or fix, establish, uphold?"

Jesus stood before Pilate when He was asked if He was the King of the Jews (Matt. 27:11). He knew what answering truthfully would bring. And, as He said to Pilate, He could stop any of His sufferings at any moment. Yet He didn’t. He stood firm.

Likewise, Mary chose to stand at the foot of the Cross with love, faithfulness, and courage, while her Son was dying and being ridiculed by the onlookers (John 19:25).

Neither Jesus nor Mary chose to suffer for the sake of suffering. They chose it to redeem us, and then to show us how to stand in, and make sense of, the inevitable sufferings we experience in our own livesinevitable because we all have free will, and our choices bear good or bad fruit in our own lives and in the lives of others.

So this Lent, let’s turn to Mary, and she will help us stand with her at the foot of the Cross, uniting our wounds to the wounds of Jesus. She will help us see the world through her eyes. And she will help us understand that real love and sacrifice are usually woven together, like the month of February, that brings us Valentine’s Day and Lent.

Send us your Lenten Prayer Intentions to be placed at Mary’s Altar in The Miraculous Medal Shrine. Here, they will be fervently remembered by the Vincentians and our Miraculous Medal Family during Lent.
