United Nations SDGs

We’ll share one sustainable development goal in each upcoming newsletter

SDG 1, established by the United Nations, seeks to eradicate poverty globally. According to the World Bank, around 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $1.90 per day. Poverty's implications extend beyond financial hardship, affecting access to education, healthcare, and basic necessities such as food and shelter, ultimately perpetuating cycles of inequality and limiting opportunities for social mobility. Achieving SDG 1 demands holistic approaches to poverty, including social protection systems and sustainable economic growth. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals Report 2020 highlights progress and underscores the urgent need for accelerated action, especially in regions lagging behind. Collaboration among governments, NGOs, and the private sector is crucial to realize a world free of poverty by 2030.
