WE'RE WORKING ON THE SUSTAINABILITY EXPO AND REPAIR CAFÉ!

We continue to be busy planning and organizing the 2nd Annual Sustainability Expo for Saturday, October 21. This year will feature a number of different organizations, artists, and a Repair Café! We are very excited about this addition, and are grateful to Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council for their partnership. In attending this event you will have a great opportunity to meet local organizations, find solutions that people are working towards right in Regina, gain information, get things repaired, and more. It is truly an event that builds towards a more sustainable future!

RESOURCE FEATURE: TED TALKS ON THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Earth Org is an environmental think tank that works to educate, advocate, and provide credible research on various environmental topics. They have compiled a lists of some of the most popular TED talks on the Climate Crisis for 2023. This list can be accessed here.

One of the specific TED talks featured is Colette Pichon Battle's TED Talk titled "Climate change will displace millions. Here's how we prepare" and TED describes her talk by saying "Scientists predict climate change will displace more than 180 million people by 2100 -- a crisis of "climate migration" the world isn't ready for, says disaster recovery lawyer and Louisiana native Colette Pichon Battle. In this passionate, lyrical talk, she urges us to radically restructure the economic and social systems that are driving climate migration -- and caused it in the first place -- and shares how we can cultivate collective resilience, better prepare before disaster strikes and advance human rights for all."

ORGANIZATION HIGHLIGHT: THE NATURE CONSERVANCY OF CANADA

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is Canada's largest "national land conservation organization". Since it's founding in 1962 they have helped to protect and preserve more than 15 million hectares in Canada!

NCC's first project in Saskatchewan was in the 1980s, where they were able to protect a section of the Qu'Appelle valley near Wolseley. Since that time, there have been many Saskatchewan projects, with over 18 featured on their website. We recommend learning more about the vital work of the Nature Conservancy in Canada by following them on socials and clicking the link below.

LOCAL BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT:

ONCE UPON A CHILD

Once Upon a Child is a children's clothing consignment store. The store is located at 2779 Avonhurst Dr, in Regina. The store carefully curates toys, clothes, shoes, and other children's items that are gently used for sale. You can also take your gently used items there to sell! Buying secondhand clothing for children is a great way to get out of the fast fashion market for children. It's environmentally friendly and more affordable.
