City Updates
City Turns Brown Bins Blue
| |
The City of Regina is repurposing its surplus 360-litre brown garbage carts in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner. Many residents have switched to smaller 240-litre carts due to the new food and yard waste service, which encourages composting. To reduce waste and extend the Fleet Street Landfill's life, the City will add blue lids and recycling stickers to the larger carts, turning them into recycling bins. This repurposing avoids transportation and re-processing costs. The newly transformed carts will be distributed to neighborhoods needing replacements starting this summer, according to Janet Aird, Manager of Program Development & Delivery. United Nations SDGs
We’ll share one sustainable development goal in each upcoming newsletter
| |
| |
Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), led by UNESCO, aims to ensure inclusive, equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning for all. Progress has been slow and uneven, with significant disparities in geography, gender, and age. To address this, world leaders call for immediate actions to provide developing countries with financial resources to alleviate constraints and accelerate development. Similarly, Saskatchewan teachers' strikes focus on class size, classroom complexity, student support, workplace violence, and reconciliation education. Both scenarios highlight the need for quality education and adequate resources for educators. | |
