The Church of England’s Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) is open until Monday, June 30 for churches to enter energy use from 2024. This annual exercise is a key part of the Church of England’s commitment to becoming net zero carbon by 2030. Filling out the EFT is simple and quick, with the participation of as many churches as possible crucial to its success.

Bradford Cathedral have become the fifth English Cathedral to achieve this prestigious award in England and Wales. The award reflects their commitment to good environmental practice, to walk in step with nature and put creation care at the heart of what they do.

Love Your Burial Ground Week means hundreds of church communities across the country will take part in a week-long nature count to monitor and celebrate the biodiversity in churchyards. This annual project takes place from 7th-15th June and in 2024 there were 6,354 records of nature spotted that were submitted by nearly 6,000 participants, representing a fantastic contribution to the understanding of the ecological value of these special places.

More than 120 people working to look after the environment across the Church of England gathered at the headquarters of the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge for two days to share expertise on climate change, net zero and the theology behind caring for God’s creation.

The Trinity Multi Academy Trust covers six secondary schools, four primary schools, and a post-16 college, with 1300 staff and 8000 pupils across West Yorkshire. In 2022 they launched their Earthshot Initiative, aiming to build a waste-free world by ensuring all school waste is reused or recycled, fix the climate by achieving Eco-Schools Green Flag Accreditation, revive oceans by eradicating all single-use plastic within Trinity MAT, clean the air by incentivising the buying of an electric vehicle for all staff and protect nature by decreasing the number of staff and pupils opting for meat dishes.

The Stobart Sustainability fund is currently open to applications and is looking to support community-led sustainability projects and initiatives led by non-profit organisations, community groups and educational facilities, such as schools and colleges. They want to fund projects that transform their local community through tackling climate change, reducing carbon emissions or protecting or enhancing the environment.
