Epic upgrade

Saturday, July 23

Epic quarterly upgrade is coming on Saturday, July 23. We've upgraded the way to learn about the changes, too. Now we have courses for each application available in Learning Assistant, including a bonus In Basket presentation (see below).

Please note: depending on your role(s), there may be more than one course for you to review.

Access Learning Assistant

In Basket overhaul. We heard you.

For years clinicians have been asking for Epic to improve the In Basket. Based on your feedback, we are updating In Basket with refined processes and streamlined workflows. You'll notice it has consolidated buttons, is more efficient, and has more options for personalization.

There are significant changes with this summer’s upgrade, so review the In Basket specific presentation in Learning Assistant to prepare.

In Basket information

In Basket key points:

  • The Reply and Forward buttons have been moved to the center of your tool bar and now have a floppy disc icon.
  • Messaging content will not be visible upon opening the Encounter. Click View Conversation to see the notes within that encounter.
  • Messages can be seen and saved in the Encounter's report in Chart Review. To access this information, double click on the message to open the report.
  • Result Management is now a single button. It replaces Result Note and MyChart Release.
  • Note is the new Quick Note.
  • Postpone and Comment in the In Basket are now found under Follow-up.
  • The Done button has replaced Complete, Review and No Action. Single click on Done from a message.
