Letting Go into the Mystery

a contemplative workshop on conscious dying

8/10—Susan Patterson, a Conscious Dying Coach, will lead a workshop on Sunday afternoon, August 10 from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. entitled "Letting Go into the Mystery." Together the group will use the spiritual practice of reflecting on death to bring greater clarity to how we want to live.

This event is sponsored by the Community of Hope.

Lunch will be provided. The workshop is free, but registration is required so we can plan for lunch.

Contact Ann Fowler or Amy Dills-Wright for more information.

Welcome Brandon Danzinger

We are excited to welcome Brandon Danzinger, a postulant for priesthood in the Diocese of Atlanta. Brandon was previously ordained in another tradition and is now making his home in the Episcopal Church. He currently serves on staff at Saint Peter and Saint Paul Episcopal Church and will be joining us for worship once a month at Epiphany throughout his ordination process, preaching on occasion and serving at the altar. His first day with us will be this Sunday, July 20. I hope you will warmly welcome Brandon and his family. You can read more about him below.

Brandon's Bio

Brandon felt the call to ministry when he was 18 years old and he has been serving in the church ever since. As a life-long learner, he has received a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary. Brandon and his wife Kelli have three children, Kenzie, Caleb, and Zendaya. As both foster and adoptive parents, they have a passion for serving the vulnerable and a desire to mobilize the church in impacting the lives of others. Brandon gets to live into this passion by being a Pastoral Associate at Saint Peter and Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Marietta, Georgia and by serving as the Executive Director of Project 82 Kenya.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Refugee Ministry Back-to-School Appeal

Over the years, Epiphany’s Refugee Ministry has partnered with resettlement agencies to support families displaced by war and unrest in their native countries. This ministry is currently focused on providing longer-term support for the Khil family who came to Atlanta from Afghanistan.

The family’s three children are in need of new clothing items and school supplies and we are requesting contributions in the form of Walmart gift cards in any amount. You can place the gift cards in the alms basin during worship, or bring them to the church office before August 10.

Please contact Alix Janke or Carmie McDonald if you have questions or if you would like to volunteer with Epiphany’s Refugee Ministry.

Reminder: The clergy will never email you directly asking for your help getting gifts cards.

Be mindful of scammers and do not respond if you ever get a personal email pretending to be from our clergy asking you for these gift cards or inviting you to send them somewhere other than the church office or the alms basin in worship.

Faith, Film, and Food

Sundays July 27 and August 24

Join Epiphany friends for a new summer movie series, “Faith, Film, and Food,” on Sunday evenings, July 27, and August 24.

We will gather at 6:00 p.m. for pizza and popcorn as we watch the film projected onto a 120” screen in surround sound in the parish hall. Cost: $5.

The film on July 27 is 2024’s Conclave. This thought-provoking drama follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events: the selection of the new Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the wake of the deceased Pope, secrets that could shake the foundations of the Church.

A time of sharing and theological reflection will follow the presentation. Questions? Please contact the Rev. Carmie McDonald.
