Prayers in the Wilderness: A Service of Prayer & Lament

Sunday 2/22 • 6:00 p.m.

2/22—In our baptismal covenant we commit to strive for justice and peace and to respect the dignity of every human being. Recent events related to immigration enforcement have left many of us feeling distressed about the treatment of others and in a kind of wilderness ourselves. If you're feeling the need for space to gather with others in your grief or anger, the need for prayer and lament, the need to be reminded of the light that continues to shine in our world, we invite you to gather on Sunday evening, February 22 at 6:00 p.m. for a candlelight service we are calling Prayers in the Wilderness: A Service of Prayer & Lament.

This Sunday

Worship with us at 10:00 a.m.

To the Church of the Epiphany

This coming Sunday will be my last one with you before I'm ordained a priest in June. I know my time with you has been short and sporadic, but I wanted to say "THANK YOU" for your encouragement and welcome during my ordination process.

As some of you know, I serve full-time at St. Peter and St. Paul, but spent a few Sundays with your church this past year as a way to gain further experience in the Episcopal Church. I truly enjoyed getting to worship in your parish and I'm especially grateful for the kindness shown by your staff.

And an extra big "THANK YOU" to Reverend Amy who has helped mentor me over this past year as well. She has been incredibly kind in taking time from her schedule in order to support me during my ordination journey.

God Bless,

Brandon Dasinger

Formation for All

Sundays at 11:30 a.m. through March 22 • parish hall

This Lent we will journey with Jesus on the way to Jerusalem using Walking the Way: Following Jesus on the Lenten Journey of Gospel Nonviolence by John Dear as our guide. We will reflect on the nonviolence of Jesus as he sets his face toward the cross—teaching, healing, practicing civil disobedience, sharing bread and wine, praying, and meeting suffering with steadfast love. Drawing connections to figures like Gandhi and Dr. King, John Dear invites us to consider what it means to follow the nonviolent Jesus today. This course will be led by the Rev. Amy-Dills Wright, the Rev. Carmie McDonald, Paul Hinson, and Suzanne Yoder.

Joe Iarocci’s presentation on Emmaus House has been uploaded and may be viewed in its entirety at the link below. Emmaus House is a ministry that that is deeply rooted in our parish and for which Epiphany members serve in a multitude of different ways. In this presentation, Joe discusses new challenges faced as the current neighborhoods the ministry has served for decades experience rapid change as the result of gentrification. The core goals of Emmaus House haven’t changed however, and it continues to make to make measurable positive impacts on residents of all ages in the communities it serves.

United Thank Offering (UTO)

Make a practice of thank offerings during Lent

UTO_Square image

In 1889, two Episcopal women envisioned a way to collect small thank offerings in homes as a personal expression of gratitude. Today, UTO contributions from Episcopalians around the world support more than 5,300 Episcopal missions and ministries. UTO boxes/envelopes are in the Gallery. Make checks out to The Episcopal Church Women, noting UTO in the memo. Ingathering will be Sunday, April 12, but checks can be made out to the ECW anytime between now and April 12.
