EDNIN Youth Summer Camp
Dates: June 13-19, 2021
Location: Camp Alexander Mack (Milford, Ind.)
Cost: $470
The 2021 fee for the week at Diocesan Youth Summer Camp is $470 per child ($30 discount for siblings). There is a required $50 deposit for each camper registered. This fee is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable after May 15. This year we are asking that all balances be paid no later than June 1. This is to cut down on the amount of items we are collecting at registration and to simplify the drive-thru process. You can pay this balance via PayPal or by sending in a check. The check must be received in the EDNIN office no later than June 1. Balance reminders and links to pay via PayPal will be sent out near the end of May. If you are in need of assistance with camp fees we ask that you first contact your parish priest or administrator to request help with funds. After contacting your parish, you may request assistance from the Diocese by emailing the missioners for camping ministries.
We are taking all precautions possible to ensure the safety of your child. Click the link to view the protocols or watch the recording of the Town Hall for Parents of Campers.

2021 Global Episcopal Mission Conference Network
Earthkeeping: Creation Care in Global Mission
Date: April 22-24
Time: 1-4 p.m. (EDT)
Where: Zoom
Climate change and ecological degradation constitute the major planetary crisis of our time. How can Christians in global mission engage with the crisis through the Creator God, the Redeeming Christ and the Empowering Spirit? What can our mission companions around the world teach us about climate justice, and how can we collaborate with them?
This year’s conference picks up GEMN’s initiative from last year’s Global Mission Conference, which was canceled in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. The experience of successful GEMN online offerings, such as the Mission Formation Program and Mission Thursdays, as well as many online conferences around the church, makes GEMN confident that this conference will ignite and inspire the joy of God’s mission amid the planetary crisis.

Social Outreach Grants
Applications Due: May 31
Note: Thank you to The Rev. Clay Berkley for agreeing to be the new chairperson of the Diocesan Social Outreach Committee!
On behalf of the Social Outreach Committee of the Diocese of Northern Indiana, I wanted to alert the social outreach teams in our faith communities that the deadline of May 31 for submitting your requests for grants for the coming year is fast approaching. If you have not already done so, please consider applying. Please email your completed form to Missioner Michelle Walker. Decisions on grant awards will be made in early June.
Through social outreach, we the Church live out our mission to represent Christ, to bear witness to him, and to carry on his work of reconciliation in the world (BCP p. 855). By connecting to our communities and meeting our neighbors where they live, we spread the Good news of God’s love to them and even invite them to take a share in the same ministries. Our outward focus is essential to the life of the Church. I leave you with a poem by George MacDonald.
Better to sit at the waters’ birth,
Than a sea of waves to win;
To live in the love that floweth forth,
Than the love that cometh in.
Be thy heart a well of love, my child,
Flowing, and free, and sure;
For a cistern of love, though undefiled,
Keeps not the spirit pure.

Global Vaccine Access: Ensuring Equity for all God’s Children
Date: April 14, 10 a.m. (EDT)
After an unprecedented global effort, there are now numerous vaccines that can provide protection from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Failing to efficiently and thoroughly vaccinate people in every country – regardless of income – raises the risk for variants of the virus that could potentially expose all of us, and continue to kill thousands of people. As we push for increased vaccine production and distribution globally, how can we ensure that all people have access to the vaccine, and not just those in rich countries? Please join the Office of Government Relations and our Anglican Communion partners to hear global perspectives on this important question. Moderated by the Rev. Dr. C.K. Robertson, Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Ministry Beyond The Episcopal Church, our panel will include: The Most Reverend, Dr. Thabo Makgoba, Primate of the Church of Southern Africa and Archbishop of Cape Town, The Most Rev. Linda Nicholls, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, The Rt. Reverend Dr. Michael Beasley, Bishop of Hertford, Church of England, and Rebecca Linder Blachly, Director of the Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations. Registration required.

The Rev. Richard Preston Benedict Reid, OSB
April 1, 1921 - March 13, 2021
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Benedict, former Abbot of St. Gregory’s Abbey. He has lived in Palm Desert, California, for many years now. He is fondly remembered in this diocese and was a beloved mentor to many. The brief biography below is from a friend of his who has known him since the time he lived at the Abbey.
O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Fr. Benedict, and grant him an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Richard Reid studied at Dartmouth and Loyola and was a veteran before entering St. Gregory’s Abbey in July 1948. Benedict Reid was ordained in July 1954; appointed Prior on November 29, 1955; elected Abbot April 18, 1969 and served in that position until February 10, 1989. In 1985 he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity from Seabury.
Fr Benedict was a monk, priest, mentor, spiritual advisor, confessor, author. He was a holy man who was a source of wisdom, solace, and grace and was a living example of God’s Peace and Love. Benedict believed strongly in the Holy Spirit working in lives to change them to bring them closer to our Lord—including his own. Helping a religious deal with addiction, Benedict learned new ways of openness and communication. He described his early years as a religious leader as “old Benedict, one who always knew the right way to do things by the book and the new Benedict who always walked in wonder, amazed by everything and everyone.”
Benedict was known as someone who listened unconditionally. In his book, he states, “One can see the Spirit drawing us even closer…. Prayer and the art of community are important ingredients for peace in the world.”
He lived life as prayer, being open to the Holy Spirit, and shared God’s Love with thousands.

Province V Leadership Coaching Project
Why bother with coaching?
- Because we believe that God has a big dream for the church's role in the world.
- Because you are creative, resourceful, and whole and can move into the future with confidence.
- Because the people of God want to hear a message of hope.
Province V launched this project to support leaders across our province. We want to help people unlock possibility in their lives and ministries.
A new introductory video
Take a look at this video to learn some of the benefits of coaching!
But what does coaching really LOOK like?
Coaches are available to all people, lay and ordained, as they navigate their roles and ministries. Coaching is a dialogue between a coach and client, group, or team with the intention of finding creative ways to solve challenging problems or improve team performance on key initiatives. The coach's role is to draw out expertise through inquiry, curiosity and challenges so that clients can stretch into their best selves.
Types of coaching
- Individual Coaching - you and a coach meet 1-1 to focus on your goals and agenda
- Group Coaching - a group of people (connected or not) gather to share the coaching time with one another, learning by being coached or by hearing someone else get coached. (This might be a few clergy people or lay leaders.)
- Team Coaching - a team of people who want to be more effective together. (This might be a Vestry or a committee.)
Coaches are available for any of the work above and they will coach ALL leaders – both clergy and lay. All of them will offer an introductory session to see if you're a good fit. Find out more and explore coaching with a trained leadership coach!
Note: If you work in a rural area, you might qualify for free coaching.
You can also contact Heather if you desire coaching. Scholarships may be available.
Applications now being accepted for Coach Training Cohort #3
Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 4 - June 24, 2021, 9 am - 12 noon ET
For information on LCP Coach training or to discuss Coaching by one of the LCP Trained Coaches, visit this website or contact Province V Coordinator Heather Barta at provincevcoordinator@gmail.com or (989) 413-3229.
