Good News Gardens
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Curry describes Good News Gardens as “A way of planting seeds for a new heaven and a new earth,” in this video invitation to join with others in this transformational agrarian ministry that feeds body, mind, and spirit. Good News Gardens is a church-wide movement of individuals, congregations, schools, colleges, seminaries, monasteries, camps and conference centers involved in a variety of food and creation care ministries – gardening, farming, beekeeping, composting, gleaning, feeding, and food justice advocacy. Collectively good news gardeners share their abundance, their prayers, and the Way of Love in their communities and beyond.
“Our call as the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement is to follow Jesus Christ and his way of love, growing in faith and action, in order that we can bear witness to his way of love in and for the world,” said Jerusalem Greer, Episcopal Church staff officer for evangelism, “And we believe that one place we can bear witness to this love is through our relationship with the land. We believe that when we commit to planting more (be it beehives or herb gardens), praying more (with our words and our deeds), and proclaiming more (through our stories and our bounty) in order to share the loving, liberating, and life-giving Good News of God’s love with all people, we will find ourselves, our church, and our world transformed. Good News Gardens offers individuals, congregations, and dioceses a way to join in this transformation work intentionally.”

The Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations (OGR) identifies opportunities for Episcopalians to participate in our democracy. If there is a topic below that you are passionate about, please click the link and send a message to your members of Congress.
The Safe from the Start Act of 2021 (H.R. 571) seeks to prevent gender-based violence and provide early interventions at the onset of humanitarian emergencies.
On March 8, many of us will join others around the world to commemorate International Women’s Day. We will pause to celebrate progress and triumphs our global community has realized to advance the well-being of women and girls. We will do so knowing that more needs to be done: women and girls around the world continue to experience many challenges, including violence based on gender. Gender-based violence is a pernicious issue in many communities, and we must all work together to end it.
As Episcopalians, we believe that all human beings are made in the image of God. Violence based on gender is offensive to our humanity and to God. General Convention has passed several resolutions in support of efforts to end gender-based violence in our churches and communities—both here at home and abroad.

Clergy Lenten Quiet Day
Date: Tuesday, March 16
Time: 12 p.m./11 a.m. (EST/CST)
A Lenten Quiet Day provides two hours of gracious space to pause, rest, and listen to the landscape of the soul. Pandemic has invited leaders to navigate in new terrain--a terrain of letting go, leaving things behind, loss and lament, as well as opening to new graces given. A Lenten Quiet Day invites one to hold space for listening for the soul. How is it with my soul? Where do I find myself in this new terrain? Rather than seeking answers, this retreat offers space to rest, to be, and to join with the prayer already going on deep within one's heart. Spiritual directors Julie Stegelmann and Missy Schroeder will facilitate a rhythm of experiential prayer, group spiritual practice, and space for quiet personal reflection.

Province V Leadership Coaching Project
Why bother with coaching?
- Because we believe that God has a big dream for the church's role in the world.
- Because you are creative, resourceful, and whole and can move into the future with confidence.
- Because the people of God want to hear a message of hope.
Province V launched this project to support leaders across our province. We want to help people unlock possibility in their lives and ministries.
A new introductory video
Take a look at this video to learn some of the benefits of coaching!
But what does coaching really LOOK like?
Coaches are available to all people, lay and ordained, as they navigate their roles and ministries. Coaching is a dialogue between a coach and client, group, or team with the intention of finding creative ways to solve challenging problems or improve team performance on key initiatives. The coach's role is to draw out expertise through inquiry, curiosity and challenges so that clients can stretch into their best selves.
Types of coaching
- Individual Coaching - you and a coach meet 1-1 to focus on your goals and agenda
- Group Coaching - a group of people (connected or not) gather to share the coaching time with one another, learning by being coached or by hearing someone else get coached. (This might be a few clergy people or lay leaders.)
- Team Coaching - a team of people who want to be more effective together. (This might be a Vestry or a committee.)
Coaches are available for any of the work above and they will coach ALL leaders – both clergy and lay. All of them will offer an introductory session to see if you're a good fit. Find out more and explore coaching with a trained leadership coach!
Note: If you work in a rural area, you might qualify for free coaching.
You can also contact Heather if you desire coaching. Scholarships may be available.
Applications now being accepted for Coach Training Cohort #3
Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 4 - June 24, 2021, 9 am - 12 noon ET
For information on LCP Coach training or to discuss Coaching by one of the LCP Trained Coaches, visit this website or contact Province V Coordinator Heather Barta at provincevcoordinator@gmail.com or (989) 413-3229.
