Hoofprints
The Hoofprints program gives grieving horse owners a positive means to cope with the loss. By dedicating an Equine Guelph donation in their name, their legacy will live on by benefitting horse health and welfare for all.

Since 2009, Equine Guelph and generous program sponsor CapriCMW Insurance Ltd., have provided this unique way to pay tribute. View the legacies of cherished horses and learn more about Hoofprints.

EQUINE HEALTH
Dr. Luis Arroyo, researcher at the Ontario Veterinary College was involved in a study on the growing numbers of ticks in southeastern Canada and the risk factors to horses. In a 5-minute interview he answers horse-owners top questions on removing, identifying and reducing risk of infections from ticks.

Lockdowns at riding stables led to more non-ridden time with horses, a greater appreciation for the horse-human relationship, community efforts to safeguard horse welfare, opportunities for farm maintenance and repairs, and downtime for stable managers, allowing them to rethink their business models, according to a new study by Katrina Merkies, PhD, associate professor and equine behaviour researcher at the University of Guelph.

Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Peregrine, in OVC’s Department of Pathobiology, who recently received the 2021 American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists (AAVP)-Boehringer Ingelheim Distinguished Veterinary Parasitologist Award.
