ITEC promotes the use of technology in education by demonstrating to its members, other educators and the public, developments in educational technology and how its appropriate use supports teaching and learning.

The show is October 14-16 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, IA.



The most common threat to a company's digital security is phishing. Three-quarters of organizations experienced  phishing attacks  in 2017.

A phishing attack shares it's name (although not the spelling) with fishing for one simple reason: something attractive is dangled in front of someone in order to see if anyone will bite, yet the attractive object ends up not being what it seemed.

A phishing attack itself is a scam, typically perpetrated through a fraudulent email. The email promises a desirable service or product in exchange for some sort of action taken on the recipient's part. 


In time for back-to-school season, Google has polished its education offerings. Changes include updates to Classroom, Google Docs, its virtual reality offerings and teacher training.

In Classroom, Google's free web service for allowing teachers and students to communicate online and share assignments, developers have added a "Classwork page," to serve as the hub of class conversation, and refined the Settings and People pages. Teachers can modify grade point values when creating or editing assignments or questions.
 

When Wi-Fi slows down, so does our entire life. Our email and browsers stop loading. Our streaming movies freeze. Alexa stops responding. Our phones revert to data plans. Everything buffers at the same time, ruining the momentum of your routine.

 

There are plenty of reasons your Wi-Fi keeps slowing down: signal congestion, router location, firmware issues, hardware limitations or even the physical size of your home. Then again, it could just be your neighbors
