The annual Erie March for Life will take place this Saturday, January 26, 2019, beginning at 11 a.m. Several hundred people will march for equality and justice for all human beings: males and females of all races, cultures, nationalities, and religions, regardless of age - born and waiting to be born.

March for Life Bus Trip

People for Life's 46th Annual March for Life Bus Trip drew to a close at approximately 1:40 a.m. this past Saturday morning with the safe return of our two buses from Washington, DC.

We are sure that it was not the most comfortable journey for our two full bus-loads of pro-life marchers. But we do hope that everyone felt that the experience, not to mention the Cause, was well-worth the time, effort, and discomfort.

Feedback from Mercyhurst Prep assures us that the 25 students who were part of the Bus Trip had a very moving experience (and not just while in-motion on the buses!).

The 2019 March for Life, seemingly by all accounts, was much larger than usual, even though there was no particular reason to expect that it would be (not a presidential election year; not particularly good weather...)

Thankfully, the Bus Trip generated a considerable amount of news coverage. People for Life's Board Secretary Shauna Jackson was interviewed live on WJET-TV during the 5:30 p.m. news, just hours before our departure. Both WJET-TV and WICU-TV sent reporters to cover the departure itself. And the Washington Bureau Correspondent for Lilly Broadcasting (WICU) even did a report about our Bus Trip complete with interviews of Erie area marchers on the National Mall.

Seventy of our photos are posted on Facebook and should be accessible even if you do not have a Facebook account. The first of them were taken on Thursday evening as our marchers gathered in the lobby of St. George School. The last ones were taken as they were returning to the buses at the West Falls Church Metro station.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this 46th Bus Trip one full of wonderful memories. Let's hope and pray that we have in some modest way hastened the day when America will once again be a model of respect for human rights and human lives all around the world.

How big was the March? Assessments will vary, but you can watch this  time lapse from Students for Life of America and decide for yourself.

Very Bad News from New York

As you probably know already, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, has just signed the most radical abortion law that our nation has ever seen. It codifies (puts into law by legislation) the original holdings of Roe v. Wade and goes even farther, striking down all meaningful abortion regulations and enshrining abortion as a "fundamental right."

If you read the law, you will see that abortion is specifically allowed prior to 24 weeks from the "commencement of pregnancy." (Although left undefined in the law, commencement of pregnancy is sometimes arbitrarily specified as the time of implantation, or up to 27 weeks LMP.) It also legalizes during the rest of a pregnancy for "health" reasons.

You will also hear that this law allows abortion at any time during pregnancy - period. This is correct. Unless otherwise more narrowly defined, the meaning of "health" in the context of abortion law has to do with a subjective evaluation of the woman's overall best interests, and is NOT understood as pertaining only to physical or even psychological health.

Astoundingly, Governor Cuomo has ordered that the One World Trade Center and several other structures be illuminated in pink to celebrate this barbaric legislation.

The growing radicalism of the pro-abortion politicians and societal elites will eventually be the downfall of the Anti-Life Movement. But it is imperative that pro-life Americans do not become demoralized but rather stay the course.
