Posen Architects, LLC (Posen Architects) welcomes Erin Sharp Newton as Healthcare Design Director, a new position in the firm. She will be an integral resource and leader for the firm’s healthcare work throughout the NY/NJ/PA metropolitan areas.
Ms. Sharp Newton has more than 20 years of experience in architecture and planning from working in firms on the east and west coasts of the U.S. as well as in Italy. She has earned respect in the industry for her humanistic approach, using architecture and design as instruments of care through envisioning, forward- thinking and game-changing solutions.
Her thoughtful contributions and innovative vision can be seen in recognized behavioral/ health environments for clients such as RWJBarnabas Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Carrier Clinic, St. Joseph’s Medical Center, and Sun Behavioral Health.

Committed to the improvement of outcomes, she serves on numerous professional organizations and writes extensively. She is passionate about the profession and mentoring others. Ms. Sharp Newton received the “Best 50 Women in Business” award from NJBIZ in 2019 for her grass roots to global advocacy efforts and is a Fellow at the Centre of Urban Design and Mental Health. She is Fitwel Certified and is actively involved in the AIA, as a Trustee for the Central Chapter and participates in Women in Architecture (WIA) and Equity in Architecture Committees. Additionally, she serves on the Local Advisory Committee on Drugs and Alcohol (LACADA) for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).
She received her Master of Architecture degree from UCLA, a Master of Industrial Design from the Domus Academy in Milan, Italy; attended the Interior Design Graduate Program at Drexel University in Philadelphia; and obtained a Bachelor of Fine & Performing Arts from Rowan University in New Jersey.
