After years of dedication and tireless advocacy to mandate developmentally-appropriate sexual abuse and sexual violence prevention education in our state, we can collectively embrace the news that Erin's Law has passed in Ohio.
Our state legislators worked overnight to deliberate on a number of bills. After Erin's Law was passed out of the Senate Primary & Secondary Education Committee yesterday, it was amended into Senate Bill 288 - the criminal legal system reform bill. Senate Bill 288 was then voted out of House (79-7) and was concurred by the Senate.
We thank the bill sponsors Representative Lipps and Representative Kelly for their fierce advocacy for Erin's Law. We also extend our gratitude to Ohio House and Senate members for their support of this bill throughout the 134th General Assembly.
Thank YOU for your advocacy! Your calls, emails, and meetings with legislators made the difference - you embraced your voice.
Imagine what we can continue to do for prevention education and sexual violence survivors tomorrow!
