Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey Association, Inc. held the 2011 Annual Meeting on May 19, 2011 was a year of quiet progress for Ernestina.  The details can be found in the Annual Report.  The 2012 officers and directors were elected with Julius Britto taking over as President, Bob Hildreth staying as Vice-President, Mary Anne McQuillan as Secretary and Louise Croteau as Treasurer.  The Historic Curatorship Program process and other initiatives promise to make this an important year for Ernestina-Morrissey.  SEMA's board will work hard to insure  the best possible future for the ship.

$47,000 Grant for Rig Work

DCR Commissioner Ed Lambert has announced that SEMA's purchase of the foremast for Ernestina has been matched by DCR's Partnership Matching Funds Program.  The funds will be used for required rig work.  More ...



NBWNHP Volunteer Day a Success!


The New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park sponsored a volunteer day on May 12.  Over 20 volunteers turned out to work on Ernestina and2012 NP Volunteer Day then relax at the  

All-American Cookout served by the Whaling History Alliance, the Park's friends group.  You can "like" them on Facebook to keep track of their partnership with "our" National Park.



Open house for RFEI - June 16


An open house will give REFI respondents the opportunity to view Ernestina, and is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 10am-3pm.  The Ernestina is located at the State Pier in New Bedford   Please contact the program at the email below if you are interested in attending the open house.


Summer Volunteers Needed


The Schooner Ernestina Commission Programming Committee needs volunteers for various events this summer.  Please contact Chuck Smiler or the listed coordinator if you would like to participate.  
Help the Commission tell Ernestina-Morrissey's story this summer.  

Schooner Ernestina Commission Meeting

Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation with the purpose of raising funds to provide for the maintenance, equipment, manning, programming and operation of the Schooner Ernestina ex Effie M. Morrissey  as a sail training vessel, school ship, and educational enterprise.
