Last evening, we held our 2nd in-person mixer at the Ritz Theatre. The event was kicked off with the ribbon cutting for the new Manzanita Roasting coffee shop which is located in the lobby of the Ritz. It was a robustly attended mixer with many new faces and some very familiar one’s gathering to make new connections and celebrate our Best of Escondido Eats Award winners.
Thank you to all who attended and a special thanks to City Council members Tina Inscoe and Joe Garcia as well as Mayor McNamara for their participating. And a special thanks to the Ritz for hosting us and the Grand Restaurant Group for providing the food we all enjoyed.
And a final congratulations to the 1st annual Best of Escondido Eats winners! We invite you to join the ever-growing Escondido Eats Facebook group by going here.
Housing pricing in San Diego and yes, this includes Escondido, is skyrocketing as demand outstrips inventory. At the state level, Zillow projections show that Western states will lead the increase in home prices. While it’s no surprise that California—a desirable destination—is among the top five states for the biggest projected home-price increases. And, with historically low mortgage rates adding to the demand there is support for average median home pricing reaching $1 million dollars for San Diego County!
Tomorrow is the 4th and final part of the Chamber’s Job Fair series held here at the Chamber. The Chamber committed in April to doing everything we could to help bridge a serious gap between employers with serious hiring needs and workers. To date we’ve tracked over 55 people who have been hired from these efforts. If you’re looking for a job/career, get over here tomorrow between 9a-2p. Help spread the word and let everyone you know about this Job Fair!
Mark your calendars for several important upcoming Chamber events. First, plan on joining us for our Government Affairs Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 7th from 4-5p as we hear from County Board of Supervisor District 5 and our neighbor Jim Desmond.
Next, on Thursday September 2nd at 6pm the Chamber is hosting the County of San Diego Independent Redistricting Commission’s pre-mapping public hearing. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard on this important process. Even if you’re not from District 3 you’re encouraged to attend.
More info on these and other events and happenings can be found on the Chamber’s website calendar page.
The latest edition of The Wonderland Podcast is out. Be sure to listen to it and all the previous editions , and this most recent edition features our very own Board member Corrine Busta.
As with all of our digital offerings please be sure to share.
Finally, a special thanks to Julie and Randy Kangas for hosting the annual Ambassador picnic potluck at their beautiful home last Sunday. This is a special group of volunteers of the Chamber with a rich history of giving and supporting the Chamber. Did you know that Lawrence Welk was an honorary Escondido Chamber Ambassador?!
PS - Thank you to all who are participating in our weekly poll. Your responses are helping us better understand your take on many topical issues.
Cheers,
