Celebrating Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, Esperanza Health Center recognizes and celebrates the contributions of pioneering Black professionals in the medical field. Their contributions have shaped the world we live in today, paving the way for better healthcare for everyone, and their legacies remind us of the importance of equality and justice.

February is American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on taking care of your heart and making healthier choices. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death, but small lifestyle changes can make a big impact. This month, prioritize heart-healthy habits like eating well, staying active, managing stress, and regular check-ups. Your heart deserves some extra love! For more information on American Heart Month, and heart-health tips, visit www.heart.org.

A Message from our Friends at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

By: Claire Alminde, MSN, RN, CPN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer

Respiratory viruses, including the flu, common colds, COVID-19, and RSV, are particularly concerning in pediatrics. It is important to prevent the spread of these illnesses to keep you and your family healthy.

  1. Wash your hands!
  2. Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  3. Vaccination: Keep a schedule to stay up-to-date with routine vaccines.
  4. Regularly cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, toys, and medical equipment, is crucial to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.
