Colors of Our Community: Kensington Mural Project

Esperanza Health Center partnered with Mural Arts' Color Me Back program to design a new mural for our parking garage in Kensington. This past weekend, community members were invited to paint a flower for the mural with artist Arshayla Robinson and share what hope means to them. Families gathered at The CORE to paint flowers and enjoy an afternoon of games, face painting, a pop-up coffee shop, and indoor gardening crafts. We are grateful to our partners at Mural Arts, Many Hands Coffee Co, NKCDC, and Klean Kensington for making this event possible!

This poem, Be Still, was submitted by Christy Concepcion, one of our patients at Esperanza Health Center.

Be Still

Every morning I wake up I give grace to the lord.

When you are in deep despair God opens a door.

We are told to love others as God loves you.

Your mind and heart can see you through.

Learn to forgive yourself as God forgives.

This is where your faith truly begins.

Never will God lead you to walk astray.

The lord almighty will keep the enemies at bay.

The stories from the bible good prevailed.

All that you hold in the dark will be unveiled.

Confessions are the hardest to overcome.

God's promises will ultimately be done.

Don't worry about what people presume.

They will be shown not to falsely assume.

Let yourself be a light for others to follow.

Stop living like you’re promised tomorrow.

Hold his hand and walk in God's full will.

All you all need to truly do is be still.
