DEAR MARKET CUSTOMERS & COMMUNITY

This Saturday we begin our every week schedule.  It's still early in the growing season, so there's only a small amount of produce right now.

But we're super excited by the positive reports from our farmers  As long as the weather cooperates, it looks like there will be some really great harvests. We can't wait!

Plants from Biver Organic Farms are almost ready.  Paul from Redhawk Acres says there are an abundance of buds on all of his apple and pear trees.  And Kris Larson of Theodora Farms (formerly Riverbend Roots Farm) says their veggies will be ready in May.

Now more than ever people need continued access to reliable sources of local food. As such they have been designated essential businesses by the following authorities:

The MO Dept of Agriculture, MO Dept Health and Senior Services, and the St Louis County Department of Public Health.   Additionally, the US Department of Homeland Security lists farmers markets as exempt, essential industries, which include food and agriculture.

We  are taking extra precautions and have implemented additional safety protocols to reduce the risk of Covid-19 exposure to our St Louis community of market-goers, farmers, vendors, and staff.

Please scroll down for our Essential Market Safety Protocols and a list of this week's farmers and vendors.

Best Regards!
Deb

NEW MARKET SAFETY PROTOCOLS
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN COUNT ON FROM US:
  1. The market will only offer essential services (like a grocery store). All community/social events will be suspended.
  2. Only "whole uncut produce and packaged goods" can be sold; booths that prepare food on site cannot operate.
  3. Sampling of un-packaged food is not permitted.
  4. We will work to ensure that "people entering the market are staggered in order to offer social distancing of customers," and we will allow space between stands.
  5. We will provide hand-washing stations with signs and offer alcohol based hand-sanitizer for those who handle goods.
  6. We will regularly disinfect our tables and equipment.
  7. We will ensure that all vendors and staff receive safety protocol instructions.
HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP:
  1. Place pre-orders with vendors for easy pick-up. (See list)
  2. Practice "social distancing" and do not crowd around booths.
  3. Do not socialize in groups or eat at the market.
  4. Pay with exact change or prepay to reduce contact.
  5. Do not touch products.  Instead point to a product and let the vendor or farmer hand it to you.
  6. If using a reusable bag, please bag items yourself.
  7. Use hand-washing facilities and hand-sanitizers regularly.
  8. Please stay home and take care of yourself, if feeling unwell; ask someone to shop for you or arrange home deliveries.
