3 Common Fears Families Have About

Estate Planning

Someone asked me recently, “What would you say are some of the common fears families looking to protect their assets from divorce, creditors, lawsuits, and predators have about protecting everyone they love and everything they own?”

For someone who doesn’t do estate planning every day, this may seem like a weird question. After all, why would you fear anything meant to help you? It would be like getting skittish about the laces that help keep the shoes on your feet snug or fretting over whether or not to buy a car seat for your child. But there is not a day that goes by where we do not meet with someone who has preconceived notions and even a few irrational fears about this critical peice to life planning.

Estate Planning and Elder Law: Why we do Both

Many people might think they need to consult with separate attorneys for estate planning and their elder law needs. After all, estate planning involves putting your affairs in order to protect everyone you love and everything you own after you are gone, and elder law gets all your ducks in a row in terms on long-term care options.

Not every estate planning office also offers guidance with elder law. But Leigh Hilton PLLC does. Here is why:

  1. We can help families get along now and help them create a plan that helps them also get along in the future.
  2. We can cover the full continuum of care.
  3. We not only care for the clients who come into our office but also their parents and children.
