Singing and Dancing All the Way to Estonia

The Estonian Song and Dance Festival will take place next week in Tallinn. EFC has funded several choirs and folk dance groups in their preparations for the big event.

Vancouver Estonian Choir Läänetuul and folk dance group Vancouveri Kilplased held a joint concert Meieoma on May 31st. The EFC-supported fundraiser brought together over 100 people. The performances, community spirit and delicious food helped the singers and dancers raise funds towards their trip to Estonia, and gave them a warm sendoff.

If you are not travelling to Tallinn, you can follow the Estonian Song and Dance Festival online via Estonian Public Broadcasting.

Okas kurku ja pind päkka kõikidele lauljatele ja tantsijatele!

Estonians in Alberta go back to 1899 when the first documented Estonian settler came to Canada. Alberta Estonian Heritage Society (AEHS) was founded in 2005, bringing together pioneer descendants, WWII refugee families, and post 1991 newcomers from Estonia.

AEHS' 20th Anniversary and Jaanipäev celebrations took place on June 7th. Over 100 participants of all ages attended the EFC- supported event. Former AEHS presidents were telling stories from the past, and participants could try their hand at a log sawing contest and flower wreath making. The evening was concluded with a pork roast dinner and dancing.

Palju õnne aastapäevaks, AEHS!

EFC Office Closure

The EFC office will be closed between June 27 and July 13, 2025.
